I wonder how many times in the top flight in English football that there have been eight different scorers. Going back to the 1950s and 1960s there were regular cricket scores but that is quite an achievement in itself.ForeverAddickted said:Newcastle need to let Pope take the penalty if they get one, crazy how no one has scored twice today1 -
Is it my imagination or has Jamie Carragher called Anthony Gordon "Andy" each and every time he's mentioned his name?0

I've given you a LOL but stranger things have happened!MrOneLung said:Neil Warnock anyone……?0 -
It's taken longer than I thought ( thought it would happen years ago) but the 3 promoted sides look so out of their depth.
3 points out of 48 point by Sheff utd, Burnley and Luton and finally the gulf is humongous.

I thought they were saying Balding instead of Gordon?Addick Addict said:Is it my imagination or has Jamie Carragher called Anthony Gordon "Andy" each and every time he's mentioned his name?0 -
these freak scores happen now and then, for example Liverpool conceded 7 not so far back .. having said that, like most newly promoted teams ( to the Prem) the Blades have a very difficult season in front of them0

I think it was Liverpool against you know who in 1989, only Steve Nicol of all people scored twice.Addick Addict said:

It's even worse than that.soapboxsam said:It's taken longer than I thought ( thought it would happen years ago) but the 3 promoted sides look so out of their depth.

The bottom 6 teams have now played 34 games between them and have taken just 14 points from those games. Only 2 wins between them and only one of them against a team outside the bottom 6.

Was concerned about this at the beginning of the season. It’s already middle of September and you can probably confidently say that very unlikely that Nigels will be relegated this season.soapboxsam said:It's taken longer than I thought ( thought it would happen years ago) but the 3 promoted sides look so out of their depth.

Not a chance they're going to make the champions league. They don't even look like making the top half, although they do have a lot of injuries currently.DamoNorthStand said:They are totally and utterly ruined if (i mean when) they dont make the champions league this season.
The crazy crazy money they have spent just wont be sustainable. Nobody will buy this guff back off them at the price they paid.
Realistically though their only way out of the mess they're going to find themselves in is going to be to sell one or more of Reece James, Colwill or Enzo Fernandez. They're the 3 who they could get big money for. Chilwell and Gallagher i guess they could also get 30-40m for.
The rest no chance. Stupid wages and 7-8 year contracts, no one is buying them.0 -
Didn’t watch the Newcastle game when it was on, but just saw the goals - how come the first one wasn’t disallowed for handball? That’s the sort of handball that VAR gives now isn’t it? It was certainly no less of a handball than the one for the penalty in the Arsenal Spurs game.0

Looks late, sure, but one footed, low to the ground and doesn't connect with studs0

As a Newcastle fan I'd be asking questions why it took 20 minutes to get the first goal

Just watched the SU v NU highlights on MOTD2 and hadn’t realised there was also a stonewall penalty that VAR didn’t give. Who was doing VAR for this game? They’ve had a shocker.lordromford said:Didn’t watch the Newcastle game when it was on, but just saw the goals - how come the first one wasn’t disallowed for handball? edit: Shay Given just said (so it must be true 😉) that they can’t give the handball against Gordon because it wasn’t him that scored. Surely that can’t be right can it?0 -

Was quite impressed by Spurs yesterday even if early on they looked in trouble. Arsenal were on top, Udogie was all over the place and got an early yellow and their passing out from the back was bordering on suicidal.
But fair play they stuck to their game plan and ironically it ended up with Arsenal giving a goal away with a terrible error getting caught in possession in their own half.
They're going to be a great team to watch this season as you know you're going to get goals. One of my Arsenal mates even admitted yesterday that he actually likes big Ange.1 -
Yeah the same thing happened in the play offs last season if the guy had squared it and someone else scored it would have stood. Because he scored himself it was disallowed.lordromford said:

Luton and Sheff U look way out of their depth. Burnley have had a tough start and I think they have a better chance.1

Thats the thing. Big Ange is just so likeable. Was at a party Saturday night and at least 4 of my mates there was Gooners and they all said they were mightily impressed with us. One of them (with a ST) message me on the way back said it was the best he'd seen Spurs play at their place in years.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Was quite impressed by Spurs yesterday even if early on they looked in trouble. I've only seen Burnley v Forest, but they looked alright.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:Luton and Sheff U look way out of their depth. Burnley have had a tough start and I think they have a better chance.

Chelsea really have surprised me this season.
Yes, the injury to Nkunku has hurt them big time but I thought they played well against Liverpool, they dominated against West Ham (and somehow lost to 3 goals on the counter attack). They created chances against Villa yesterday too.
I honestly thought Poch would have got them going. He looked so pissed off on MOTD last night. God they need a proper centre forward. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.0 -
It's difficult getting decent players in when you've only got £1bn to spendJohnBoyUK said:Chelsea really have surprised me this season.

Nicolas Jackson has impressively managed 5 bookings for dissent in 6 PL games, and is suspended for the next game!1

Funny that Lukaku has gone rome under Mourinho and scored in his last 4 games2
