Illya Kuryakin & one half of The Man from Uncle has passed away aged 90.

Played medical examiner “Ducky” in NCIS. Remember one scene when the question was asked what do you think Ducky looked like in his younger life. The answer given in the scene was Illya Kuryakin.

BBC described him as a KGB spy in the "Man from Uncle", I was young then and we only had got a TV, but was his character a KGB spy? Must have gone over my head0

He didn't make much of an impression in the invisible man 🤦🏻♂️ but David McCallum came across as a cool man. He was going to follow his Parents in being a musician:
His Dad was a top Violinist and his Mother a Renowned Cellist. David decided to give that career the Oboe as he got the acting bug.
A talented family who left Glasgow for London for their careers.
Not just The Man from Uncle but The great escape, Sapphire and steel, etc and to younger Viewers his part as Donald 'ducky' Mallard in NCIS on CBS.
A very intelligent man who loved science and his first love Music.

He only hit 90 last week.
One programme not mentioned above that he featured prominently in was Colditz in the seventies but for me the Man From Uncle was what defined him professionally.
