Apparently a done deal to Southampton for £800k. He's a striker i wouldn't have minded but lets hope he has a mare there.

Agree. Could have really suited us. Still "apparently a done deal" is not a "done deal"

    yet.

oooooh is that a hint Henry or are you just pointing out that a few done deals never actually happen?

Think the truth is becoming clear now - Pardew has no idea who to sign himself, so just tries to hijack any deal that Parky is trying to line up for us. If any footballers are daft enough to fall for his silver-tongued spiel, then I'd rather they end up there than here.

So go on Parky - put out some rumours that we are after some useless, expensive lumps, then sit back and watch Pardew sign them...

I know nothing about Lambert, so can't really comment on this one specifically.

or maybe agents know he will be going for anyone at the moment
  • Scored 29 goals in League One last year so he certainly knows where the goal is. Let's hope he's a 1 season wonder!

He scored a lot of goals for Rochdale in league 2 before joining Bristol Rovers.
  • Do we know that Parky was in for him then, and if Lambert or his representives have an idea they will sit tight to see what other offers come in for him, taking into consideration there is another 3 weeks of the transfer window still to go, not the best of moves moving to a club with a minus 9 deficit on the current league standings........or maybe its a tactic to flush out any other interested parties, as we are all well aware Pardew panic buys, as well as pays over the odds

Southampton will have to make a few more signings to get themselves out of the relegation zone. Still relying on youngsters doing the job

I think with southampton a striker is the last position they really need to strenghten, rasiak and that polish guy they have must be two of the best forwards for league one? they need defenders badly thou, a pardew trait if ever I saw one!!

I find it highly unlikely that Southamption have £800k to lash out full stop let alone on one player, we all know Pardew goes for quantity over quality.

Pards also said they had virtually no money to spend last week & was looking for a couple of players, really do not see this transfer happening at all.

done, on their OS, 800k rising to a million. Why would they not have money ? Thought they were taken over by a guy worth millions.

A million+ for a league one striker. Typical Pardew!

Strange that their only Transfer In Pre-Millwall match was a Free & outgoings was well over £5M ?

Being Taken Over does NOT guarantee lots money spent on Transfers...QPR...Portsmouth.....

Actually the going rate for a League 1 striker in Pardewland is £2M, £1M+ usually only gets you a League 2 striker!

You mentioning Pompey is a classic reminder to us all not to count our chickens, as some rumours are abound that the Pompey takeover has collapsed.

A real shame as I thought he would have been ideal for us.

Still plenty more fish in the sea. Let's just hope we can afford a fish rod soon.

Peter Varney didn't rate Lambert when I asked him last week if we'd be interested, if he was at the club, if there was a takeover etc etc.

Was funny Shearer saying all the players he recommended to Ashley have gone.

Does our window end on 31st August?

A forward I think would suit us is Ben Hutchinson at Celtic.
