JFC seems an odd choice. Not a great coaching career. Wonder if Powell has something else lined up or is he at Spurs still anyway?
He is still head of coaching at Spurs academy. I assumed (rightly or wrongly) that the FA scheme to ensure BAME representation within the England coaching setup was aimed at British BAME coaches, so slightly surprised JFC is replacing him as there must be other potential British candidates. However, maybe I am wrong regarding the objective.
Powell was on the EECP scheme in the England setup. His time has come to an end, that’s all. I didn’t realise Jamal Campbell-Ryce is also an England coach, but at U17 level I believe.
Weird to leave such a solid to job to go somewhere where he’ll be sacked within a year and back to square one
… and make a lot of money, good for him.
He will get a job easily when he returns.
yeah agreed, he was playing just before the taps really got turned on for premier league footballer's wages. Probably sees this as a way to 100% secure his future.
'In September 2019, Powell was appointed as a coach for the England national football team. In March 2023, it was announced that Powell would step down from his job as a coach with England to focus on his role at Tottenham.'

So only 4 months on, where has he gone to?
Also laying into anybody bringing up the crossbar incident.
