Appleton's press conferences

Thought he sounded really defeatist today. We’ll find out how far away we are from the top clubs in this division - or words to that affect.2

Yes I was surprised with the way he spoke and we are going to have to expect more performances like Tuesday in view of the lack of experience. Hope not too many. Agree that he sounded a bit negative.0

Clearly wants more experienced players through the door in January and I think he might have been saying 'don't expect to get promoted this season'.3

Sounded grounded and realistic to me.StreekDerek said:Thought he sounded really defeatist today. We’ll find out how far away we are from the top clubs in this division - or words to that affect.
But then I agree with him that we're not good enough for automatic promotion as it stands.3 -
I'm taking to Appleton with each press conference, positive but not getting too overconfident in his approach, and agree Bolton will be a test..
Liked what he said about the open day Wednesday, and how the players and staff took it to the fans... yes, I like Appleton, he will be a good appointment given the time and backing.6 -
I agree, we’ve just got conditioned by various regimes to not be given time or backing unfortunately to any manager, I really don’t know what the owner’s expectations are this season?eastterrace6168 said:I'm taking to Appleton with each press conference, positive but not getting too overconfident in his approach, and agree Bolton will be a test..

Should we swap it for being realistic and honest?KettsJohn said:Yes I was surprised with the way he spoke and we are going to have to expect more performances like Tuesday in view of the lack of experience. Hope not too many. Agree that he sounded a bit negative.1 -

Nothing wrong with being realistic, better than the waffle we've had from previous managers.2

I see 2 of the infamous 11 starters from Sunday have been named in the squad -I'm sure there will be many more. I thought the consensus was that they were all thrown under the bus & the fringe players wouldn't see the light of day again.
But then some of us know better. We have a thin squad & even the shitty players have to be involved. I'm waiting for a few injuries and then for Kirk to be involved again.1 -

You thought none of the starters would ever get in our squad again? Seriously? The team was shit against CVPM, doesn't mean they will bomb out 11 squad players. It would be weird and impossible. I would expect more than them from our starters to be involved in the squad tomorrow; Walker on the bench to start.5 -
Just bringing a little bit more attention to this comment. Aside from the fact no-one ever said the starting 11 wouldn't see the light of day again (Edun is our starting left back), it's nice to remember that the other of the 2 mentioned there scored the equaliser that saved us the points against Pompey. Curse those 'shitty' players eh!golfaddick said:
