  • Seeing the floodlights go on for the first time from my bedroom window.
  • Valley clean up day
  • Fortune's goal and the "Amarillo" singing as we relegated Palace.

That seems a very long time ago now.

Killer breaking the scoring record against Huddersfield
  • Taking my kids for the first time. I live a decent distance away now but that first visit (v. Huddersfield on Chis Powell's return) has led to my kids becoming fans and subsequently my games per season becoming less sporadic.
  • Some great moments captured above.

Bizarrely there was also something "magical" about being alone and standing on the centre circle of an abandoned and overgrown Valley, thinking of past glories and anticipating our return.

Shawn Newtons goal vs Ipswich 1-0 playoff 2nd leg with no roof of the west stand
  • The Red Devils landing on the Valley pitch was pretty good when Chris Powell was here, the season we won the title.

Johnny Robinson wheeling away like a demented labrador after he'd scored the equaliser in the 3-3 draw against Man United.
    Remember that well, great scenes.

Choiyoking Davina McCall when she was doing some tv thing on the pitch.

Getting a football on the back of the head from a player warming up, when doing the centre circle tarpaulin before a match.

    That feller doing Nessun Dorma.

Giving Kinsella, Powell, Kermogant, Mendonca etc send offs.

John Barnes introduced to the crowds.

I remember the promotion party when we won League One. I was only a young teenager and remember my Dad telling me to drink it in because I likely will have my own kids the next time I see something like this, only now do I see how true that statement is.
  • My first visit to the Valley on a freezing December afternoon in ‘69 with the floodlights on and a home win!
Wish I could remember who we played and who scored!

Beating Arsenal 1-0 on New Years Day, Johansson with the goal, they missed a penalty and the last 10 minutes was like the Alamo.

David Whyte Whyte Whytes last minute free kick against Brentford in the Cup.

Shaun Newtons howitzer in the play off v Ipswich.
  • Cliff Durandt scoring in the last minute against Southampton to give us a chance of staying up (which we took).
  • There are too many magical moments these days for my liking, the defence often disappears
