He may know a couple of ours from previous teams too which is always good as a settling in aspect

Let's be realistic, Dobson is leaving, whether it be in January or the Summer. But a midfield two of Terry Taylor and Conor Coventry is a very attractive proposition.

    CCxTT.

Hopefully not a pair of cxxts
  • Be interesting to see why he might drop back down to league one, if he does end up with us, it is another one on paper which sounds promising.

Gillesphey and Coventry sound like players who can go a long way in sorting out our fragile backbone.

I hope if he does sign he'll play alongside Dobson rather than instead of. We've been so weak in the middle we could do with a couple of decent DM's in there.
Got to be what MA is aiming for and why he won’t play Watson - he commented on a weakness in the defensive side of his game in November, and he doesn’t have the goals in him to be a 10.
Opted for the steely Fraser instead.

Ah here we go with the "best in league".

    It doesn't take long 🤣
Get a big strong goalscoring striker in and we’ll have a “cheat code” too.

Far too early to make any sort of judgement on Taylor imo.

As above if we get Coventry I'd imagine it'll be as a Dobson replacement. Which to be honest I'd be pleased with. Wouldn't be surprised if we tried to offload Fraser too.

Cawley says if it happens, it’s likely be a permanent deal since he only has six months left and isn’t near the West Ham first team.

He’d instantly be one of the best midfielders in the league.
Is age not a problem  ?

I thought most of our current problems are because we are playing too many youngsters. Haven't I been reading that we need more senior pro's ?

    Don't we ever learn.

People still happy to see one of our stars leave, bizarre, we are allowed to have quality squads not just a first eleven.

100%. I spent a couple of minutes trying to remember who he is!

Coventry is better than Dobson, but hopefully they are going to be paired together. Those 2 and a fit Terry Taylor is a good start to our midfield options for next season if we can get the first 2 tied up

    We’ve had 3 tangible links with 3 players. A 29, a 28 and a 23 year old (turns 24 in march).

You can’t unilaterally reject all players that don’t meet an arbitrary date of birth.

Far more important than age is overall ability and maturity. Which it sounds like, based on the Matt Taylor interview above, he has spades of.

Not making a comparison to Cullen because that’s a high bar to reach but no one would’ve thought he was as young as he was when he came here.

Last January we were linked with several decent players.
    We ended up with
    Matt Penny
    Kilkenny
    Bonne.

I shall contain my excitement until any deal is done.
    Don't forget Todd Kane!

  • The Window swung wide open on 1st Jan. Have we made any signing yet? And if not, why not.

Coventry isn’t one I have heard, but if true I would imagine would be a permanent signing, he certainly fits the type of players we are looking.

I would add, that Dobson has been offer a take or leave or deal, if he doesn’t sign, he will be gone, same as CBT. But I think that is old news.

As I mentioned there is going to be a lot of transactions this month, in and out of the club. I honestly think these owners want to a big go at, I get to fans are once bitten twice as shy, and want instant success, but personally I feel we need to give them a bit of time, they haven’t done anything alarmingly wrong at the moment. They have a strategy and a plan, and it is certainly bette than the last few owners that’s for sure!

As I go back, there is a base on here would only be happy if it was Varney that took over!

It is a big month for Scott, if no improvement then we deserve to go after him, but at the moment the jury is out for me!
Just win games. It's pretty simple. Currently failing.
