I agree - we should genuinely be moving heaven and earth to keep these two right now! Unless we get 5 or 6 in beforehand and then we let them go. It seems crazy that our best two players currently fit are being considered to be sold whilst we hovver 6 points above the relegation zone having only won 2 of our last 11......

Without injuries it's a very decent squad, the problem is how many injury risks it contained in key positions1

I do love how people who have no idea of what conversations have gone on, and what has been offered, seem to have an understanding exactly what CBT and Dobson have been offered, what they are asking for and what they think they are worth.Maybe it’s just me, but I guess I’d like to know what sort of contact they have been offered and if they are even entertaining it before I jump to conclusions.8

Fair enough, but we are writing things off before given a really opportunity. Yes, we have had it tough over the last 10 years or so.. but damage has been, and not allowing the owners the time isn’t going to help.. what’s the point of driving owners out with given them a really opportunity.Garrymanilow said:

Honestly, I understand the frustration, I am frustrated by our club, but what help is all the negativity, they haven’t actually done anything that bad right?? Some of the toxic I don’t think is that justified.
I guess it is years upon years that is causing it, but fans need more patience5 -

If there's legs in the Coventry rumour then we'd have the following central midfield options, when all fit:
- George Dobson
- Panutche Camara
- Scott Fraser
- Terry Taylor
- Conor McGrandles
- Louie Watson
- Karoy Anderson
- Conor Coventry
Eight is quite a lot! But, you'd potentially then say that 1) Watson is recalled; 2) Anderson isn't good enough; and maybe 3) Fraser goes. With Dobson and Camara not slated to be at the club beyond this season, we are left with Taylor, McGrandles, Coventry, and Anderson for 2024/25.
My gut tells me this is not a position "of need" but then we need players all over the pitch to be remotely competitive. A slightly more convincing part of my gut, however, tells me that this - IF IT HAS LEGS - is a "replace Dobson before he goes" move. If that is the case... well, I wouldn't be surprised, but I would be a bit disappointed.0 -

Most of you (rightly) lambasted certain posters a few days ago for implying that being critical meant not being a proper fan. Now I don't share Dubai's views either but you can't have it both ways. They're one of the few that actually posts rumours and makes this thread interesting, and they're very entitled to their views on the ownership.6

I hope we aren't putting all our eggs in one basket on this one. Feels like a transfer that could rumble on towards the end of the window before it gets resolved and it's not guaranteed he'll come to us. Meanwhile, we need a line leading striker pronto. And ideally we will have players in place that mean, by the time he is fit, there will be no pressure to have Aneke starting games otherwise we can anticipate he'll be out again after a handful of appearances.Callumcafc said:0 -

Lose 2 of your best 3 players at the club, and then bring in replacements with that money who will take a while to get up to speed whilst we head into a tough February on paper and then possibly looking over our shoulders at the bottom 40 -

Yes, I was, along with 90% of the charlton fans, a lot were good signings on paper. But then, we have had a lot of injuries.Chunes said:

It would be great if we retained Dobson and CBT but it’s pretty obvious that they both want out. No idea what’s been offered to them but I doubt it’s not competitive. They are after all important players for us but if they can get better offers beyond ours and want out then now’s the time to usher them out the door when we can hopefully get a small fee for both. That’s the reality of football. We’ll no doubt be taking advantage of the same opportunities. If there’s truth in Coventry and JCH there’s two straight away.1

I think that's the key points of failure to recruit properly in the summer. I think everyone one on this forum was reasonably happy with the recruitment of Taylor, Camara, Watson and Edun but its taken Watson and Edun nearly half a season to get fit and as for Taylor and Camara, there must have been question marks due to the length of time they had been out. But the real failing is not bringing in another forward with Alfie May. Was all this due to the takeover being delayed ? The permanent downgrading of our club by a minority of fans is so frustrating, I am not saying it is easy, what deal is but the idea that it is ludicrous to even consider we can compete financially with another team in our division & a team in the league below.
We should be seriously in the mix for JCH especially now we don't have that despicable Holden demanding we don't spend money anymore.8 -

Dobson was our best player yesterday and Corey is second to Alfie in the scoring charts. Lose them both this month and we will be battling to stay IN this League this season, as I very much doubt their replacements will be better.8 -
