Now we've got Andy Scott, recruiting whizz, and what hidden gems is he unearthing... Appleton's men.
Our black box is actually just the manager's little black book.
We couldn't be any further away from a Peterborough/Brentford/TakeYourPick style recruitment style.
It’s often said a manager should have his own coaching staff, if there’s a good player is available who’d improve us it shouldn’t matter if they were someone the manager has had before, they were first identified through data or spotted by a scout at a game.
If we’re going to see an improvement in our recruitment it’s something that’ll evolve over time. There’s not an overnight fix. Known players like JCH are obvious, to find the more hidden gem types you need the right people and tools in place to spot them, and do it better than the competition.1 -
Absolutely no point loaning players in.1

Oxford United manage to keep one of their better players who was wanted by championship clubs..
Let's see if we can do the same thing as a club that we allegedly have more spend power than
https://www.charltonafc.com/news/nathan-asiimwe-signs-new-long-term-contract
Only Miles is on a similar level
Edit: 29 apps all competitions, 5 goals and 4 assists 1362 minutes played.
The only reason he wasn't starting every game is because of their squad depth at the time, he'd walk into our starting XI.
My point was, they've kept hold of a very decent player who had interest from the league above, let's see if we can do the same2 -

Only Miles is on a similar levelYou’re right that he did score against us twice but I thought that playing well against Charlton wasn’t a valid reason to judge if a player was any good? He’s only managed two other goals across the rest of the season.
I also found a tweet from last week where an Oxford fan says he’s crap so he must be bad.

He’s at a very different point in his career to CBT (97% minutes btw) both in terms of age and development.0 -

A young squad player signing a new contract at Oxford is very different to Dobson and CBT who are among the best in the division and much older1 -
I don’t think we can get annoyed at the club for not getting Dobson and CBT on new contracts until we see where they end up. If they both end up in the championship then there’s probably not much we could have done, if they end up at Derby and Wrexham then fair enough it’s time to get angry5

Don't completely buy the there's no point of loans point of view.
1: The seasons not over, we still need to pick up points to stay clear of the bottom. If there are good players available for loan why would you not do it.
2: It's less expensive than a permanent deal, it allows us to save money for the summer window where the money can be better spent.
3: It allows us to take a look at a player for 6 months before deciding whether or not we want to try and get them permanently in the summer if that is an option.16 -
It's League 1 , I'd be shocked if anyone wasn't maxing out all 5 loan slots even just from a budget perspective. Of course given the choice I'd rather have permanent signings but I recognise it's not really feasible and you have to supplement the squad with loans - bonus if it's someone you can then sign permanent in the summer.1

Be great if Wrexham had a mad moment and put in a bid for Fraser. Sort of in line with their thinking of taking players from clubs higher in the league than them4

Just making sure you remember, you don't go to games so I'm not sure if you know how he may have played against us.
Who said that's not a valid reason? What, from when I've said that a performance against us isn't a true basis of a players level as any old Joe in this league can turn the burners on against us? That's literally a tongue in cheek comment that we are pants.
What's your point? I can read the replies here:
And can say their fans are happy about it. As I always say, you can spin it how you like it.
How many more of my posts are you going to quote out of interest over the course of the season? Just starting to find it a bit odd that I always find you quoting my posts/challenging them. What's the plan with it, as evidently I'm going to say our owners are shit either way.
Like I've implied before, but now i'll say it, you can dig your head in the sand as much as you like, I'll point out my concerns around the club.
I think our owners are full of shit, you don't.1 -

Not anything we didn’t already know in terms of player links but good to get perspective from someone who isn’t a fan but still close enough to the club to understand our shortcomings.1 -

You post a lot, you get quoted a lot. There’s nothing personal in it, it’s the constant willingness to find the worst possible angle in everything recently - even non-Charlton news is used to post digs framed as questions.
I would say I have a healthy distrust of the ownership. Just because I don’t jump on the latest League One news (this morning’s case is Oxford signing academy players to a new contract) and immediately use it to question them doesn’t equate to me backing them.
Lastly, me being out of the country bares little relevance to the topic at hand. I still watch every game, I still see how crap the football has been for the past three years. I’m right there with everyone else in thinking what we’re seeing on the pitch is long way from being good enough.14 -

The least bit interested in loans. Not what we need.7
-
If we end up with Fiorini and Bakinson whilst missing out on Docherty and Coventry that’ll be pretty underwhelming. I guess it’s the years of being let down but I’m already waiting for the ‘we tried hard’, ‘January is a tough time to buy’, ‘we worked till the very end’ statements to come out. Some serious rabbits need to be pulled out of hats and soon!24
