did ok for Lincoln a while back, scored a few .. best thing about him is he's a Scottish terrier, loves a tackle .. the signing of him and Balogun is proof i m o of how rubbish are our midfielders with the obvious exception of Dobson .. love to see a m/field of Dobson, Forini and Balogun , if not why t f have the new boys been signed ?

Despite all the talk (and not just at Charlton) at having sophisticated, data led recruitment processes, it's amazing how many lower division transfers still involve players the manager has previously worked with.
Where's Mowgli now we need him?
He sold the clubs his system. He was years ahead of the rest😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Won’t be ready to start for a while - will be an off the bench player.
  • Just what you want from a loanee with half a season left.

You've gotta laugh... If somebody wrote that headline on here for a joke, they'd deserve at least 20 LOLs.

We need players who can make an immediate impact... We struggle with injuries... So we sign a guy on loan who is just coming back from 18 months out.

    What planet are they on....?

I can only assume we’ve taken him as part of returning Tedic. Be interesting to see what Board members say when they’re undoubtedly quizzed on this, this week.

Surely we need to try and tap Arsenal more. Local to them. History of their players doing well here.

    Actually amazing.

Send a loan player back for a crock that probably will get up to speed right as the season ends.
  • Charlton really need to cultivate very good relationships with the London clubs. We have the luxury of having plenty of Premier League clubs on our doorstep who will no doubt have plenty of young players available for loan. They won’t all be like Cullen or Bielik as we know full well but not taking advantage of what’s available on our doorstep seems negligent.

I see this as a bit of a wildcard gamble signing and as long as we bring in a few others I think it’ll be worth the gamble as Appleton clearly rates him and offers something we havnt really got.

Does MA have any say on who the club signs?

This is the third time Fiorini has played under Appleton. Would be some coincidence.
  • I would hope that the fact that we are being linked with about 1000 midfielders, some of real quality, means that this is more of a ‘trail’ and perhaps a chance to pick up a decent player on the cheap next year.

Obviously if our only business in the middle of the park is to bring in Bakinson and Fiorini then that is rubbish.

But as ever let’s see where we are at the end of the window before we ‘wet our beds’.

If you're going to bring your mates in, Apples, see if you can find a couple who are actually match-fit???

Do we need a 'wildcard' at the moment? We haven't even got a full deck!

Jeez, I knew Balogun was struggling at Monaco but it's a real coup if we've brought him in!

I see him as one loan player who adds to our bench options to bolster the midfield when we need to hold on. I don't think the window has closed yet and we might see some more players brought in.

He is a very good player and better than League One level. He wouldn’t be available to us if he hadn’t had recent injury issues.

Keeping my powder dry because of his last 18 months but I think he walks into this team and quite probably becomes our best midfielder, as long as he stays fit.

When asked for an indication on Fiorini’s fitness, Appleton said: “He doesn’t need a mini pre-season as he’s been training now for five weeks but certainly from a playing point of view, we’d definitely have to stagger him”

This quote suggests he might be available as soon as this coming weekend but will probably be late January before he can do a 90 minutes and mid February before he can do 90 minutes two times a week.

How does he pass a medical?
  • Fiorini knows the longer you don’t play for Charlton, whilst injured, the better you actually become .
We have top class players like McGrandles and Taylor to return and push us towards promotion at some point in the future.

Taylor will be like a new signing when he returns.
