AberystwythAddick said:Regardless of its been asked before or not I think it is a valid question. If we are doomed for another nothing season and both players refuse to sign, should we cash in now?
Not when 6points from relegation with a recent record of one win in 10 against some of the poorest opposition in the division. What would we get £250-500k each absolute max. Not worth the risk to me.
On top of that, if these owners are really serious about building the club back to where it was as the real return for investors is as a PL club then not being unable to retain your two best players is a pretty poor reality!9 -

Simple as that.
Same goes for CBT too.
If we were top 6, winning games, with a real chance of promotion and the club made them a good offer, they'd sign.
I wouldn't re-sign for us based on the current footballing prospects at CAFC
They must be crazy though- what with Appleton being the best coach in the world and all that...
Super hero Varney isn't coming to the rescue.. suck it up, and support! We have little option..
Wow, you really just told other fans who aren't happy to "suck it up"
Unbelievable.
Suck it up and try to support the club, and see what happens or don't go and spend your hard earned cash.
Think last night they delivered a message, they know they haven't got it right, they have made mistake, they know it isn't an easy fix, they are trying to correct the wrongs, they have owners who are willing to invest money in the playing side, and non-playing side.
I am frustrated as much as anyone how poor this season has been, how we have left ourselves short, how things don't seem to be going to plan this window.. But need to give them a chance, personally,
I don't we will see the really benefits for another 18months - 2 years in my opinion, it is a project!

So, anyone got any transfer rumours?10

Methven said you only have to be better than previous owners to dramatically cut losses and establish ourselves in the top half of the Championship.
They were completely wrong or they aren't very good at their jobs.
Of course it would take time regardless of the manager etc
Right now though, we are lightyears away.10 -

Quickest reversal since your last one!
It is football, things are always changing, players change minds more times than hot dinners.. Not everything does go to plan when recruiting players, and that's not only Charlton, that is clubs up and down the country!!
I am going to leave it here now..6 -
Oh look the plan the project let's wait years for it to get better whilst they suck us dry and let our best players leave sell our youngsters and don't sign decent players for the first team hardly progress is it we are free falling but yeah let's trust in them the results are showing so far lol.5
-
The true test of our recruitment is who we go for next, if JCH is a no go. If we go back in for someone like Humphry's great but if we end up with a last minute youngster on loan or an out of form player returning from injury who can be picked up a bit cheaper, the signs aren't good.2

They took over the club on the 21st July
You would be no good if they were your specialist subject on Mastermind. You would be playing serious catch up on the general knowledge round

The potential new owners were FULLY aware of any transfer dealings the club were involved in and ney, I reckon, had approval over them all !2 -
AberystwythAddick said:Regardless of its been asked before or not I think it is a valid question. If we are doomed for another nothing season and both players refuse to sign, should we cash in now?
Now, I tend to think that we could cash in we're not going up but we're also not safe from relegation so selling two of our best players might not be a great idea.
Remember New England Teamen and 1978 when we let Powell, Flan and Abrahams go around March and just avoided the drop.4 -
NOT a rumour, more a comment .. isn't this the type of young player that WE should be trying to get on loan, based in the south now loaned to Lincoln ?

fenaddick said:So, anyone got any transfer rumours?
He's then suggested that it's the players fault for not signing, he's more or less said January is a no go for transfer movements, even tried to make a joke out of it by smugly saying he may as well wake up in the afternoon.
They're doing it on the cheap, if we don't sign JCH and that money isn't spent elsewhere to improve this team, which definitely needs improvement, I think the writing is on the wall.
I am now a bit more suspicious knowing of Rodwells links with Peterborough and 'DMAC'. Wouldn't it be funny that we were in for a Peterborough manager and one of Peterboroughs top players and rejected by both? It's not like this hasn't happened before when Dmac was allowing Southall to talk shit to keep Charlton fans on side.
The biggest indicator by a country mile on these lot will be by windows close. If we don't sign JCH or at least put those wages to good use and funds, which they have now confirmed they are able to, something is wrong.
Because either they don't have the money they are claiming to and the JCH bid was a media stunt to calm a disgruntled fan base down or, their scouting knowledge goes no further than approaching a top striker in our league to a club who want to sell. Either way not ideal imo.
That fans whatever you want to call it did nothing for me but made me think they're more tin pot than I already thought they were.
Disclaimer, these are all my views, none of these claims are fact and all my opinions based on what I have seen and heard. As always I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling we will be warning another clubs fans about this mob like others fans warned us.15 -

window 1. He was working for sandgaard under a completely different brief. The owner wanted out and wanted to reduce costs. From sandgaards point of view, last January was a good window.
window 2. What percentage of the window had gone when the new owners took control? How many realistic targets had moved on by that stage?
window 3. This is the first full window Scott has had.Summary. As this is his first full window and I'll judge him come February.11 -

The whole of January last year
From the 21st July when his group that he’s employed by took over the club. His last 4 signings shown to be panic stations and 2 of those already thrown back
And 11 days into this one now and very likely to still be charge by the end of it6 -

So the club are looking at better quality players.
If they approached me, I’d have reservations.Sign now, Appleton/Scott sell it to you with the ‘5 year plan’, but you can see we are on a bad run of results. I don’t care what they state, no wins in January and Appleton might be gone (surely he would go then) and you are then risking yet another new Manager who you might not get on with.
The club is in a very difficult position to attract any permanent signings right now.
Will be easier in the summer once we know what league we are in and you have time to plan properly for early summer signings.0 -

They were completely wrong or they aren't very good at their jobs.
Of course it would take time regardless of the manager etc
Right now though, we are lightyears away.
As I said, it won't happen over night!
We are not looking to scrap the bottom of the barrel now.
On top of the last two he's had some say in, plus this one?
FIVE WINDOWS?
We are really setting the bar low aren't we
As this is his first full window and I'll judge him come February.
The whole of January last year
From the 21st July when his group that he’s employed by took over the club. His last 4 signings shown to be panic stations and 2 of those already thrown back
And 11 days into this one now and very likely to still be charge by the end of it1
