Ikpeazu hasn't signed yet has he @ForeverAddickted

Maybe edit to Put Ladapo in.
Joys of writing a Match Preview when signings are uncertain mate.

I presumed at the time we'd potentially sign Ikpeazu and Ladapo - Unfortunately cant edit it now
I did warn you FA, do the review in the evening 🤣
Yeah but then I get the bosses sending me messages, demanding a write up...

CharltonLife may look cute and cuddly on the outside, but when on the inside, its nothing but hard labour :D
Exactly. Dipped my toe in the water, and it was freezing cold. 🥶

It seems to me, on our wedding anniversary, to be an appropriate time to put a picture of my wife’s chest on Charlton life.
  • I honestly don’t know what to expect, very confusing in so many ways.
Quite apart from the team performance, I for one will be struggling to identify who’s who!! 🤔

    COME ON YOU RED BOYS!
Meet you in the same place.
  • Anything can happen today, hopefully Tuesday will see a change in formation and performances.

Two likely tough games coming after this against sides in decent form (Northampton and Blackpool). And then we start February with a daunting trip to third-placed Derby. Unless we get something out of today I rather fear that by the end of the month we will be in a genuine relegation fight. And we all know that kind of pressure does odd things.

    Must win game.

Appleton out if we don’t win.

Hopefully when the new players have been integrated, all these clubs that we fear, like Northampton, Derby, Wycombe, Pompey, Barnsley etc etc, will start looking more like what they are, reasonably decent League One sides. No more than that.

REG and Ladapo on the bench today I reckon. Too soon to start them.

So suspect we will start as FA had us lining up.
  • Hopefully, Ladapo will be involved as it will be refreshing to have a striker (Kanu/Ladapo) on the bench to actually be able to bring someone on for the final 20 mins or so.

Got zero idea what team will be today which is a good thing because of having so many good option to pick from.

Can't put a LOL on this one Jimmy...seems disrespectful of your wife's chest...🙄
  • If we don’t win this we are in a whole world of trouble. If apples doesn’t go safe and play the most boring team possible out of all the exciting new options I think we have too much for them.

Unfortunately I think he will play safe which means all bets are off.

    It is must MUST win.

Think Chucks will be back on the bench today as well. Got a feeling Ladapo will be starting,

First time for a long while I’m genuinely excited to see the team sheet !! I suppose I should prepare to be disappointed ☹️

    Saturday 20th January 2024 - 3pm Kick-Off
    Referee: Alan Young

    Introduction
The Addicks hit the road once again this coming Saturday, looking to improve upon what has been a disastrous campaign away from the Valley - With just the one win, and six draws, its an area that we drastically need to improve, mentally too, and not just through scoring as much as possible... Given that didnt work on our recent visit to Staffordshire.

    The Opposition
Name: Burton Albion (19th) | Manager: Martin Paterson
    Ground: Pirelli Stadium
Previous League Result: Derby 3-2 Burton Albion

It was almost a great result on Monday night, the Brewers travelled the short distance across to Derby, where the Sky cameras awaited - Fighting back from 2-0 down, they came so close to earning a point at Pride Park, only to leave Derbyshire disappointed, after a 93rd minute winner. That was their second defeat in the five games since the pre-Christmas clash at the Valley, yet what'll be worrying is the fact that Burton have been impressive at the Pirelli Stadium in recent weeks, with two wins and a draw in their three games at home.

Its meant that Burton have picked up their form since sacking Dino Maamria on the 9th of December, and Martin Patterson (now in the hot seat) will be looking to impress with his first Managerial role - As a player, he's probably best known as a Striker for Burnley - Whilst as a Coach he's spent time as an Assistant in the United States at Fort Lauderdale, before returning home and working with Michael Duff at both Barnsley and Swansea.

Given his credentials, it could well become an inspired Managerial choice from the Staffordshire side... If of course he can be one of those men in the dugout who can step out from beyond the shadows, and become their own Manager!!

    Charlton Team News
Its been a whirlwind of a couple of weeks in terms of individuals coming into SE7 - Tyreeq Bakinson put in an impressive
debut against Peterborough last Saturday, so will no doubt keep his place, whilst Conor Coventry and Lewis Fiorini will fight with George Dobson over the remaining slots in Midfield.

It seems we've finally decided to switch formations too, going to the likes of 3-4-3 or even 3-5-2, the latter working well in the second half last Saturday, yet with minimal Striking options (at the time of writing this Preview), it wouldn't be surprising if Daniel Kanu is kept in reserve as a precaution.

Michael Hector and Terry Taylor got a 4/10 for their high five as they switched places in the Funhouse... Erm I mean Physios
room, however its unlikely we'll see the latter for sometime, who otherwise could have faced his previous Employer today.

    Maynard-Brewer
    Jones - Ness - Gillesphey
    Watson - Dobson - Coventry - Bakinson - Edun
    May - Kanu

    Substitutes : Isted - Asiimwe - Thomas - Fiorini - T.Campbell - L.Watson - Ikpeazu
Ikpeazu comes off the bench to score a 94th minute winner.

We then get charged for using a player who doesn't belong to us, and get a 30 point deduction, relegating us.

Ladapo straight in. Watch May and Lad get on the score sheet first half.

That team and bench looks a bit stronger already!

Thought the changes might have been more extensive, but will be exciting seeing Ladapo starting
  • Good to see we’ll have decent defensive options off the bench once we go 2 - 0 down.

Two players wrong in my Match Preview starting line up :D... Close, but no cigar

    I'm not really though, Ross1.

It allows the 2 new boys to integrate and learn the gameplan.
And ensures those starting put in a performance to keep the shirt.
