CBT gone, Appleton stays, can't get rid of Fraser, and Dobson's Hungarian rumours are true. Rough day.

Why would we agree to this? Surely Derby wouldn’t pull the plug on the deal if CBT couldn’t play in two matches against a team nowhere near competing with them for promotion?AberystwythAddick said:You can play against your own club with their agreement
We’re mad if we’ve agreed to loan a very good player to another team in the same division as us and agreed to letting him play against us, twice.3 -

Seriously wtf. Our best player for the last 3 seasons and we can't offer a more attractive contract then one from a two bob Hungarian club. Ffs, what a shit club we are.fenaddick said:31 -
It’s bizarre, if I was him I would be questioning my choice of agent!bolloxbolder said:

Nothing to suggest we haven’t beat them to anything, just that they want him and won’t pay our price1

George Dobson would have to be completely off his head to move to Hungary - this won’t happen8
-
Don't think Videoton, that's who they are, are a two bob Hungarian club, won their league and reached a UEFA cup final in the 80s IIRC
That was then but it's not as if we such a high ranked club ourselves these days.
Does seem an odd move from the Hungarian side though.
Bet Fehevar Life are saying "George who?"7 -
they’ve played in Europe in the last few years too and I think they’re third in the leagueHenry Irving said:Don't think Videoton, that's who they are, are a two bob Hungarian club, won their league and reached a UEFA cup final in the 80s IIRC

More than we get atm, and I'd bet it's some atmosphere out thereCovered End said:Ground capacity 14,000 odd.0 -
Fehevar FC have a local lad called:
Atilla Fiola. He must be called Atilla the Hun 🤷🏻♂️2 -
I went to a Ferencvaros match. They’re supposed to be the biggest team in the country but there was only about 5,000 people in the ground for a home league match and the atmosphere was non-existent. Locals were friendly though.Croydon said:

Is their beer pre-poured at half time? How many chips are in a serving?Do they wear their home kit when playing away unless the colours clash? These are the real question us and indeed George should be asking. Their league position and success in Europe are just side issues.4

Maybe you’ve got to ask yourself why the best/only offer Dobson has is from a Hungarian club and not a championship or league one club.bolloxbolder said:

The hold up is coming from our end:

If the Scott Fraser deal is off I’d be tempted to suggest that the new manager wants to keep him or at least keep him around as an option until the end of the season4

Wonder if we’re waiting to sign a replacement (Collins?) before we let Fraser go? MA did say we could have a signing in by the end of the week but it was more hopeful rather than certain, and they’d know more in the next few days.charlton_hero said:The hold up is coming from our end:2 -
But nobody knows if that is the best/only offer.FishCostaFortune said:

Confusing what the holdup is. If the departure of Fraser has been delayed until we get a new attacking midfielder, why hasn't he been in the matchday squads for the last 2 matches?5

We have Watson and Fiorini so I think that’s unlikely but there must be some reason so maybe so.Scoham said:

We don’t, but have you heard any rumours whatsoever of him being linked to any other team?Chunes said:

I am sure something would have come out by now if there was a serious offer from another club - especially considering all the stuff leaked on our side.

I'm not sure a lack of rumours means much. We've seen things can happen very quickly and it might be that he'll go when he's a free agent anyway. And either way I can't honestly say a lack of interest in Jan would affect my assessment of Dobbo's abilities as a footballer.FishCostaFortune said:

Genuinely amazed the Dobson and Hungarian club rumour is true..
What a weird scouting job by them.
Now if I was Dobson, I'd probably rather play inSzékesfehérvár (had to Google this) and be playing top flight Hungarian football as a life experience, rather than languishing in league 1. Presumably the wages would be better as well.
The appeal of living in London isn't there anymore imo, it's expensive and it's a dump other than certain areas. I'd be way more inclined as an English lad to take a risk in another country.
I think what may sway in our favour is him having his young family.
I also think he will land a contract in the championship or league 1 if his contract runs down here, a lot of teams will snap up a hard working, defensive midfielder in his mid 20s with top tackling and defensive stats. Even as a squad player.
