I am not a big Fraser fan, but neither Watson or Fiorini have yet to show they are a consistent 10. Playing 352 we need a creative goal scoring 10. Fraser is probably better there than Watson or Fiorini (who are both loans as well.)NabySarr said:
We have Watson and Fiorini so I think that’s unlikely but there must be some reason so maybe so.Scoham said:
Wonder if we’re waiting to sign a replacement (Collins?) before we let Fraser go? MA did say we could have a signing in by the end of the week but it was more hopeful rather than certain, and they’d know more in the next few days.charlton_hero said:The hold up is coming from our end:Hopefully it’s because another team has come in with a permanent offer rather than a loan
So maybe the current crisis means we cannot get anybody better in to fill this gap, hence Fraser stays.2 -
Maybe the Hungarians want Fraser as well.NabySarr said:

What a weird scouting job by them.
Now if I was Dobson, I'd probably rather play inSzékesfehérvár (had to Google this) and be playing top flight Hungarian football as a life experience, rather than languishing in league 1. Presumably the wages would be better as well.
The appeal of living in London isn't there anymore imo, it's expensive and it's a dump other than certain areas. I'd be way more inclined as an English lad to take a risk in another country.
I think what may sway in our favour is him having his young family.
I also think he will land a contract in the championship or league 1 if his contract runs down here, a lot of teams will snap up a hard working, defensive midfielder in his mid 20s with top tackling and defensive stats. Even as a squad player.
I have worked abroad before and have travelled a lot and never found a city better than London. It has culture, history, architecture, great restaurants, theatres, great sport and much more. It's not perfect but no where is. I think English people talk it down toi much at times.
Having said all of that I have never understood why more English players don't play abroad. Not sure Hungry Infront of 3,000 people is overly attractive though.14 -
Experiencing another culture, learning another language, there are benefits particularly if the financial package makes things worthwhile.Athletico Charlton said:Braziliance said:Genuinely amazed the Dobson and Hungarian club rumour is true..

For Dobson, he'd certainly have an easy time out there playing as the standard would be Championship level at the very best for the top sides.
Aside from all this, I'll be very surprised if he ended up out there.0 -
Hearts are trying to work out of they can play him against us before the season ends.NabySarr said:

Can I be the first to ask.......
Has the transfer euphoria of last week now subsided a little ??4 -
If CBT is a loan, I assume that means no sell on fee?

Years ago Colin Walsh was loaned to Middlesbrough and we had Alan Kernaghan on loan, they both played in the game at Selhurst against Boro.eastterrace6168 said:

It is a bit bizarre, as i couldn't find any real link. You'd understand it if they've got an English manager or someone on the coaching staff who worked with Dobson before.Braziliance said:Genuinely amazed the Dobson and Hungarian club rumour is true..

Also although they're considered a fairly big team in Hungary, they're tiny in reality. Their stadium holds 14k, their average crowd this season is less than 4k, their main sponsor withdrew from the club last summer and last year they only just avoided relegation by 2 points. So i'd question exactly how much of a better offer they could give Dobson based on all that.0 -

again take any opportunity to have a dig at the club .. they have now offered a very good package to Dobson ( his Dad confirmed that to a number of supporters ) ….. as the club said they heard very little back from his agent .. that’s not the club fault2 -

As from what i've read from Cawley, Charlton and Derby there is no mention of any sell on fee.2 -

Imagine it will be his agent touting him vs them scouting Dobson directly.Braziliance said:Genuinely amazed the Dobson and Hungarian club rumour is true..

As it came from Cawley I didn’t doubt there was truth in it. I’d still be surprised if it’s where he ends up though, as you say with a young family it probably doesn’t suit him.Braziliance said:Genuinely amazed the Dobson and Hungarian club rumour is true..

If you're living somewhere like Erith or Thamesmead then yeah I can see why you'd say London is a dump, but if you are a mid 20s footballer earning 150k a year then you can afford to live somewhere nice in a nice house or flat and not worry about the cost too much.Braziliance said:Genuinely amazed the Dobson and Hungarian club rumour is true..

It would appear that Fehervar are at least matching Charltons offer in monetary terms but what else are they able to offer as inducements ? Rent Him and his family a nice villa, car to and from training, a certain amount of flights home ? Could be quite a life experience for a couple of years before his child enters the schooling system. I wouldn’t necessarily rule it out completely.3

Given they're currently 3rd in the league they could potentially also offer (probably only briefly) European football.1

Dobson is a fantastic player but think he'd struggle to get in most Championship teams. Taking a punt on playing in Europe and potentially in the Europa or Conference League is quite an incentive, especially if we are faffing around with his wages. It also stops him joining one of our league rivals. If it doesn't work out for him, I'd sure he'd be able to find another League One club easily enough3
-
The interesting thing is that this Hungarian team seem to be the only one interested in him. Obviously might be different in the summer but it strengthens our hand if no one else is trying to unsettle him1
-
For those saying he might want to go there to play in Europe it's worth noting that the sides who finish 2nd and 3rd in Hungary go into the qualifying rounds of the Conference league. Neither side from last season even made it through to this years Conference league group stage. So i don't think he can be banking on trips to the Bernabeu and San Siro!

12 teams in the league and 4 in Hungary get Europe, even just the qualifying stages of the tournament is an experience he'll never get staying in England. I still don't think he will go but to some that's a big incentiveChris_from_Sidcup said:For those saying he might want to go there to play in Europe it's worth noting that the sides who finish 2nd and 3rd in Hungary go into the qualifying rounds of the Conference league. Moving abroad with a young family for the experience of playing in front of 4k fans each week with a chance to play a couple of Conference league games in the arse end of nowhere each season doesn't sound like an amazing incentive.follett said:

Not to mention that "according to Transfermarkt, we find that the average monthly salary of a footballer in Hungary is HUF 3.8 million (EUR 9,880)". Even if we assume he'd be on well above the average, i can't see how this is better for him than staying with us or finding another English club.0 -
I agree with you I just don't think it's as bad and unlikely a decision as some are making it out to be. For some the chance to play in European qualifiers might be more attractive than signing for a League One club but there's lots of factors at play as you mention.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I noticed when the teams came out at Burton that Dobson was carrying a little baby.
Not on the inside but in his arms.8 -
