What evidence is there that he has lost the dressing room? I hate these throwaway comments, the sort of comments that lead to ' no smoke without fire' scenario. Why would so many players who have played with Appleton have joined us. Do I think he will go-yes, do I want him to be our long term manager-no, but making stuff up is unacceptable.

He was posting that in response to Derby fans who had found his account and grabbed screenshots of him posting Corey in a Derby shirt before they'd officially announced it. True. With the players we have, they should. But we shall see. I was surprised that he didn’t start Gillesphey and REG last Saturday. And I wasn’t surprised with the way we conceded that 1st goal. Business as usual if you don’t change things.Southbank said:

I sincerely hope we win tonight, and win well. I want MA to be given time to work with HIS players (who have only just walked through the door) and not the inherited dross he has had to work with. What I cannot stomach is the frenzied and heartless lynch mob mentality that this board sometimes generates. At times it makes me thoroughly ashamed to be a lifelong Addicks fan.

It is funny of course but this is mostly a serious debacle for the football club
They appointed one manager/head coach and then sacked him in the middle of a transfer window.
They appointed a new manager who very few thought was a credible choice.
They then leaked they had sacked him too. And in the middle of the next transfer window. But they couldn't even organise that properly. So Appleton is still in post, knowing no-one wants him in post. It is not only humiliating for Appleton , it's professionally embarrassing for Charlton Athletic Football Club.
This extensive management team sold one of our two standout players but they failed to do that properly. They loaned him to a League 1 rival. They they consented to let him play against us twice when we are facing a relegation threat. What odds on a CBT goal sending us down?
Their big fee marquee recruit (Coventry) turns out to be replacement/substitute for our other standout player, Dobson, who now has to leave, or play out of position.
So the management team briefed against the club Captain in the middle of his contract negotiation to try and force him out.
I am no fan of Appleton. He is probably very knowledgeable about the technicalities of coaching but it's just impossible to imagine him inspiring or motivating anyone. And he's just not Charlton. We all knew that but they didn't.
However, Appleton is NOT the key problem any more than Bowyer, Adkins, Jackson. Garner and the last nice bloke we all liked, were the key problem.
Surely its time for any venom to be directed at the likes of Scott, Rodwell and Methven and their coterie of highly renumerated hangers on.
The truth is, 8 plus 8 plus 8 = relegation, misery and and total obscurity.
Sack the lot of them. Now.
Get Lee Bowyer back with 100% control of first team issues. Add Euell and Pearce in support and lets get on with it. This is a waste of everyone's time and sanity.

The guy shouldn't be put in that position in my opinion as he was never ever going to be accepted at Charlton. He has been a figure of derision for many years and if the management had even a modicum of a clue about us, they would have known it.The club have a duty of care to him like any other person they employ and they are basically putting off the inevitable.4 -
Hopefully Appleton can reach some sort of financial package with the club today and we won't have to witness a very embarrassing evening tonight.
That would of course involve us having proper professional people in charge of our club.
So I won't be expecting it to happen.3 -
The players will know that Appleton needs a win tonight if he wants to keep his job. We'll be able to tell through their effort (or lack thereof) whether they rate him.

Here's another possibility. It was all bollocks. People read rumours on here or elsewhere and then share them with their mates as if they've heard it themselves. And then they again get shared on here, and the circle continues. It's a snowball effect.7

I suspect the problem isn’t just getting rid of Appleton but the people who hired him and have sat back and watched the awful run of results. Explaining that to the ‘new’ owners as you say we’re going to need a bit more money to pay for a season that’s basically been wasted and by the way the team could get relegated might be a bit tricky3 -

There is an equal possibility that what he shared is incorrect. We have now seen posters trying to justify posts that appeared yesterday with all sorts of reasons as to why Appleton is still in charge. No Football club would let a Manager, take the mornings training session, which he did, then hold a press conference yesterday, which unless they have found a perfect clone, God help us, was definitely him, if they wanted him out. One other thing to remember is how many times have you heard a Manager slate a club that has dismissed him ? There may be something in their contract or final settlement that prevents them from doing so, but equally most Managers want to continue with a career in football and are loathe to be seen as problem employee and thus harming any future job prospects.2 -

se' that's probably as close to the truth as anything on here. That said, I have little sympathy with those running the club, remembering twelve months ago, the amount of misinformation that was placed in social media would certainly fan the flames of suspicion in the future. There is also the culture of silence at the club that was raised yesterday by Airman and AFKABartram, with Charlie boy a skilled manipulater of social media, and the subject of Appletons alleged non appearance at the mornings training session, being raised at the briefing, why the silence ?2

Just because one of them offer a view and insight, doesn’t mean it will then be a carried finalisation. Same with the ‘UK management team’. Then chuck in all the usual ‘someone who works at the training ground / The Valley’, or knows a players dad, or X’s agent etc and you got so many potential messages out, which if they were correct about so and so signing in the past then get interpreted as everything they say is fact when that might not necessarily be the case.9 -
If people are told things in good faith, and then share it, especially if they are told by multiple different sources, then its wrong to shoot the messenger. Let's face it, it wasn't just @DubaiCAFC who said he'd gone and didn't take training, others on here and elsewhere said the same! What transpired after all the reports, I haven't got a clue, I've never been ITK, but to me there's no smoke without fire.
Did the owners overule the SMT?, did MA refuse a mutual agreement? Or were the people who fed info to the different posters being used? I really don't have a clue, however I'm sure info shared was as accurate, at the time.
I do believe if he losses tonight his gone pronto!11
