Who will be the new Charlton coach? - p103. Nathan Jones confirmed

Decent in the sense of seemingly being a pretty nice guy with a good outlook on life perhaps, rather than in terms of skill - which is probably quite hard to judge either way on very limited evidenceLargeAddick said:
On what evidence is Fleming decent?Valley11 said:Excellent news. I hope he gets to bring in his own team. Never seems to work when a new manager is told to work with what’s already there, as decent as Fleming is.

Well I certainly wouldn’t disagree on that.Valley11 said:

Note to self...
Leave home an hour earlier on Saturday ( ie 10am) as Crossbars will be rammed ( get it ? ) with smiley faced Addicks buying rounds & toasting the future following today's positive news.
It's been a while !3 -
Has Jones always had the same team around him?0

Nah. He’s had Luton, Stoke and SouthamptonValley11 said:Has Jones always had the same team around him?

Well I’ve been saying it since 23rd January so get back in your box.Henry Irving said:Been out at another excellent Bromley Addicks meeting and catching up.
Wow, talk about premature evaluation.
First Jones is "off" and the confirmation bias is off the scale then Cawley says just need to agree terms and everything is rosy again.
Pleased IF IF IF and when Jones is confirmed on the OS but not before as agreeing terms is still a pretty big hurdle to get over
WIOTOS.
Been saying he should be our manager on here since 2014 so it definitely has been too longHave a promote17 -

Possibly the most interesting part of this whole piece. If true, it shows that maybe we are more than a casual investment to these people.
Duchatelet was completely hands off. Sandgaard was like an octopus.
Maybe we've finally found some balance ?15 -
Heard there’s a press conference in the morning.
Before you get too excited, it will be Curtis Fleming talking about the match.18 -

If the Nathan Jones story is true - fair play Charlton, excellent work.0

Just having a look at the Luton team that were under him, lots of familiar names. Bakinson, Isted, Shinnie, Lloyd Jones, Elliot Lee, Famewo, Steer, Lockyer of course.

Hopefully it'll be a case "Yeah, he is, but he's our lunatic."Garrymanilow said:Genuinely quite excited if we do get Jones. Obviously the man is a lunatic but he's been very successful at this level, he knows the place and it's a higher level manager than I ever would have expected. Who would have suggested we'd hire a manager whose last job was in the Premier League? Still plenty of time for it to fall through but if we pull it off it'll be a coup. Plus best of all, he's not Appleton!5 -
With no attacking threat. Good luck with thatElthamaddick said:IF Jones gets appointed then that’s a real statement of intent and hats off to the money men, cause he won’t be cheap
throw in a few decent signings in the summer and there are possibly reasons to be cheerful
….. is he’s just gotta keep us up first 🤣1 -

Jones was on the final two man shortlist for the Millwall job.
Thought this was interesting too:Curtis Fleming took caretaker charge of Charlton’s 1-1 draw at Blackpool last weekend, assisted by Jason Pearce.
The pair are expected to still be at the helm for Saturday’s home match against Derby County.
American investors Gabriel Brener and Joshua Friedman took a more hands-on approach to the process of bringing in the new man after the short tenures of both Dean Holden and Michael Appleton.
Wonder if they've lost faith in Scott & He'll be off2 -
Are you suggesting that she was lying ?Todds_right_hook said:
Based on? The search for a new manager started last Wednesday. In that time the board would have had to advertise, discard the crap, approach managers, speak to agents, book interviews, reduce the short list, arrange second interviews, make an offer etc.Valleyofdreams said:Knew it was too good to be true that we would sign a half decent manager straight away and give ourselves half a chance of getting out of this shit. Jones will get pissed off with waiting for an answer and we will end up with someone like Appleton. Same old Charlton.
we are 5 working days into the process. Why would jones get pissed off?
realistically, how long would you expect the process to take?
you do realise that katrien didn't really interview 300 managers in 17!minutes.7 -

I wonder if he'll be able to bring in his own backroom staff.0

The two assistants he took to Southampton Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan are currently coaches at Lincoln and Swansea respectively.ElfsborgAddick said:I wonder if he'll be able to bring in his own backroom staff.

I’d have thought he’s in a position to demand whatever he wants and if he doesn’t get it then he turns the job down. It wouldn’t be long before another Club comes calling.ElfsborgAddick said:I wonder if he'll be able to bring in his own backroom staff.4 -
Sounds like Rich is a day or so behind on news.. as I said at the start of the week, not everyone agreed Jones was the right direction, but if most agree they would go with it. There was total agreement they wanted Rowett, but unfortunately Rowett didn’t want to come for whatever reason, and likely the reasoning Supaclive mentioned.
But on Wednesday they had all agreed on Jones (I wasn’t told who at this point) Jones agreed to come, most of the financial package is agreed, but a few minor details to go through, but was agreed the club need to focus on trying to get players through the door. I was told an announcement in the next 48 hrs which means today is the day.. Also believe Jones recommended Ramsey and I don’t believe was on the clubs list.48 -
You would hope that it all can be signed before Saturday. Would give the crowd a buzz and might even get a couple extra bums on seats.8

If it is to be Jones then that's a statement of intent from the owners as he is levels above some of the recent dross and he certainly won't come cheap.
As good a manager as a currently pretty rubbish bottom half of league one club could surely hope to appoint.17
