Died after a morning walk in prison aged 47.
Opposing Putin has a very high price.

No doubt natural causes.1

What an incredibly brave man.
RIP21 -
Was a very brave man, standing up to Putin for what he believed in.
Unfortunately this was always the most likely outcome.
RIP.3 -
Absolute hero for taking such a principled stand in the face of such an inevitable outcome.
RIP.10 -
I hope his countrymen have a march or vigil in his honour. Having such principles above personal safety is what has kept many or us safe and free to this day.

Collapsed and lost consciousness on a walk, and I think they've said he's died of natural causes, which at 47 years of age isn't really heard of.0

But still obviously doubt it!3 -

RIP, brave man.2

À brave man that knew he would be killed. I hope the citizens of Russia can find some balls just to acknowledge him and the cause.2

I never wish anyone death or harm but in Putins case I’d happily see him die by falling out of a third floor window. RIP Navalny10

Another Putin special operaton no doubt?
RIP. If only the Russian people deserved you Alexi.1 -
Putin is a gangster armed with nuclear weapons.
Murderous henchmen to do his bidding, it takes a special kind of courage to stand up to him.Alexi Navalny death’s robs Russia of a champion of democracy and decency.14 - Sponsored links:

Anne Applebaum, a Staff writer at The Atlantic wrote….
So far, the only person who has a coherent strategy for dealing with Putin is Navalny. He described it in a handwritten note he sent to Yevgenia Albats, a Russian journalist and close friend. “Everything will be all right,” he told her. “And, even if it isn’t, we’ll have the consolation of having lived honest lives.” He has already shown his compatriots that it is possible to live an honest life in a dishonest political system. It’s an invitation for others to follow. Dictatorships survive because most people are not willing to pay that high a price.

Sad news, a very brave man and a much better option than Putin.
If he'd ever achieved power we could well have been a bit disappointed with what his views might have been (certainly Ukrainians would not appreciate his stated Crimean position), a bit prone to unwise/headstrong decisions (like returning to Russia after being poisoned) and he might have been a member of the metropolitan elite, but clearly someone who offered something different than the current quasi-dictatorship.4 -
RIP. It takes a lot of guts to stand up against wrong.3
-
Russian leaders since time immemorial maintain their reputation and tradition as murdering, cowardly horrible, ruthless bastards .. R I P Alexei, let's hope that the sacrifice of your life will prove worth it in the very long run2
-
So very courageous but so sadly inevitable
RIP Alexei1 -
Fair play to the guy for lasting as long as he did given he was poisoned 3.5 years ago. I thought he'd have been long gone by now.
His death has to be suspect especially when you read this bit "Navalny was last seen only one day before his death, looking well and laughing during a court hearing via video link."2 -
An incredibly brave hero that should be respected the world over.
RIP2 -
RIP. Murdered by the state.4
-
Absolutely shocking but really it was not unexpected. He stood up for what he believed and paid the price as many have who have crossed Putin.Brave man.0

This Brave man realistically was the last chance of any credible opposition to Putin
He paid the ultimate price with his life
I hope the Republicans currently opposing any further aid to Ukraine will realise the error of their ways and not continue to block the aid
That in itself would be a lasting legacy to the bravery of Alexi.RIP10
