Dobos comments were very very interesting….well I think they were anyway.
For what it’s worth, I still think things are going on behind the scenes……as I always have as a matter of fact.

Love the broadcast from the end of season bash. Some interesting insights. Well done Louis on winning the prediction league (fix!!! lol) and thank you again for producing such a great show. I've said it before but I'm going to say it again, shows like this are so very important for us overseas Addicks. Quite possibly. Also possible that he has confidentiality agreements in place and simply can’t say anything. And, listening to the interview, I am hazarding a wild guess that he was pissed and could barely string too words together.robinofottershaw said:

Might be clutching at straws I took it from the Dobbo interview that there is a good chance he stays.
I think if he was defiantly just going, he would have said unfortunately yes I have signed a contract and will be leaving, but he kept saying I can’t say anything and at the end I think he said something when touching upon it be the last we see of him, you never know in football.
One time he was quite clear was when asked if Charlton could have done more and he quickly said yes.

Won’t be the headline but Dan Kanu continues to impress. His interview was great and he’s the sort of character we need around the squad as he gets older. A great example to the academy and someone to show incoming players why they should give their all19

The main point with Dobson is HE went and signed a contract with another club he could and should have said I will wait till end of season before deciding ..like 99% of players do when their contracts are running out .. only two people to blame his advisor and Dobson himself5

just listened to the podcast - clearly still lots going on behind the scenes to see if there's a way Dobson can stay (that's my take on it)

Well possibly but it wasn’t an English team he signed up for. He’s gone very left field in going to Hungary, I doubt very much if GD would have gone long without an offer or two from league one if not a Championship club. You don’t see many players signing pre contracts just for security. It’s usually a step up. If they’ve offered him considerably more than he could expect in the U.K. then fair play but I don’t believe that. agreed - obviously the fact he was very cagey in that interview means things are going on behind the scenes.....otherwise he'd have spoken more freely and said 'yeah I'm off' etc

I think he acted rashly whilst feeling very down about things.
Now, it sounds like he'd like to stay if possible.
If there was still a huge gap between him and CAFC, then I don't think he'd be talking this way, I think it would be a definite farewell.
I think negotiations must be happening between CAFC and the Hungarian's, and the outcome will depend on those negotiations.

It's great that there appears to be a real friendship between Dobbo and May.
Then we have the friendships between Assimwe, Anderson and Kanu.
Then we have Leaburn and his Mum.
There appears to be some real close friendships and a togetherness amongst the squad, that will hopefully be reflected on the pitch next season.6 -

2 You don't see many players signing pre-contracts "just" for security
3 He wasn't offered considerably more by the Hungarians

I think he is off, would love it to be different, but felt more like ‘Empire Strikes Back’ than ‘A New Hope’ based on all the convos I had last night. George is one of the nicest footballers you could wish to meet and has been the consummate professional and diplomat and has likely been advised to use certain lines of response.
We are maybe being a bit insular and ignoring the fact that our Dobbo will likely get the chance to play in a European cup competition next season and has played abroad before, for Rotterdam, the experience clearly did him no harm.Who knows, maybe one or more years down the line he could be back, more experienced/wiser than ever and help us take whatever our next steps will be, but for now, I think if that is the sort of money that would need to be shelled out c£600k, even management will know that more positive impact could be had through the investment on a few with that budget rather than investing in one. The game is played by 11 after all and our team management have a proven record in producing winning sides.
Wish Dobbo the very very best and hope he thrives next season and beyond! Big man love for the fella.6 -

It’s irrelevant who got it wrong George’s obligation is to his family, we’ve all felt under valued/paid at work and George acted in their best interests, not yours or mine.Bshine166 said:

Charlton fucked up and so did George.Only time will answer that if he’s made a mistake, I was told many months ago in their first short reign he wasn’t rated either as a skipper or a player.
Whether we like it or not George owes us nothing he gave his all for that shirt during his contracted time here, if he leaves I wish him all the luck in the world.
