Switched on at 1500 to watch the darford match without realising it was. 1400 kick off. It was already 4-1.  Bollocks.  Couple of our new signings look decent on the evidence of half an hour albeit against a team of trialists
In that case, make sure you get every kick off time wrong please!

Were Dartford any better / worse than Welling ?  Would this match be seen as a suitable replacement ?
We've played Dartford for the last few years anyway. I assume that it's part of the agreement allowing us to use their pitch for U21 games.

Might be an easy mistake to make this season with kick off times all over the place!

I enjoyed that, the new signings looked good. Godden, Ahadme, Berry, Mitchell and Edwards I was very impressed with. Overall a good workout for the squad, NJ didn't take this as a friendly he was berating them from the off!
This COULD be a good season indeed.

Impressed with what I just saw, clear idea on how we're gonna play football and took it seriously. Not a bad word to say about anyone today, quite liked Tayo in that CM role, think he could actually be part of that depth we've been seeking. Well done chaps

Dartford aren't great, only pre season etc but as a squad we did well. Obviously lots more tweaking required but Berry looks like a leader and a good player, impressed by Edwards and Mitchell, NJ pretty good to his word when he said he wanted everything sorted before pre season. Encouraging.

If pre season games are all about fitness then already it’s a positive start as some players are already looking fitter than previous seasons.

Some lovely first glimpse cameos, some really interesting watches of previous players who feel like they’ve a point to prove and a few lovely goals (including theirs).

But, the most promising thing is that normally we have about 5-10 youth players playing in this game because we can’t fill it with first team players. We not only filled it with first teamers today, we had about 5 who couldn’t even fit in the squad!

Decent run out. Was impressed with Godden. Good touch. No slouch either. Also Terry Taylor could give Coventry a run for his money in replacing Dobbo

Sorry haven’t read the whole thread but was Aneke’s absence explained anywhere?

Louis Mendez was apparently going to ask Jones about it, but I've not seen any post-match quotes yet

Just not risked for the first game. They said he was heading to Slovenia.

Good to hear. Think we just need to do whatever it takes to make him available for 20 minutes per game throughout the season.

Didn't think Fraser looked like a player who was trying to impress his manager.

Not a fan of pre-season friendlies.
But I went today and couldn't work out who was who as they never had their name kn their shirt.

Anyway enough of that bollox I had a good time meeting up with my mates in the pub and then had a 5 minutes chat with me old mate Norman.
Seriously does he ever miss a game.
    Legend.

Anyway now watching England so fingers crossed.

Was hoping we might see the fabled Edward’s long throw today.

Sounds like Hylton could be one that joins then, we had Euell back in 2011-12 so wouldn't really have issue with him joining in some capacity.

  • Lots of good perfomances today. Especially in midfield. Fraser, Taylor & Berry all impressive.

Small very good & the main creative threat first half.

Campbell’s bulked up & looked a big threat.

Still worried about Gillesphey tho. More than a few wayward passes today and looked slow. 100% need another centre half. Would be v.happy with either Wiredu or Bradley.

Enjoyed today's game, was impressed by the new boys & could see how we want to play going forward which is pleasing considering it's just week 1 of pre season

Thought Fraser was good in his 45 minutes, and it may be a marriage of convenience with him, we need another 10 in this squad and it's unlikely he'll get a permanent move due to high wages, so if he can apply himself properly no reason he can't be a productive member of the squad
