Are they the lyrics to a blues song?clb74 said:6 years ago me and the wife were in Memphis.
We took the Bus from near out hotel down to Graceland.
Was talking to a woman in the bar later that night.
She had a look of horror on her face when we told her we'd taken the bus.
White folk don't take the bus here , we get taxis she told us.
It was on the we realised that we'd been the only white people on the bus.
Didn't think nothing of it.3 -

Was there in 2002, me and 2 mates went drinking in a local bar in Memphis as recommended by a hotel member, we were the only people in there, they couldn’t have been more accommodating, thinking back we were probably seen as a novelty.clb74 said:6 years ago me and the wife were in Memphis.

I remember this big fella telling our cab driver to make sure we got back to our hotel safely.0 -

Thinking of booking a Greek island but bit bored of the all inclusive type holiday. Maybe a boutique hotel, a little bit authentic maybe.Maybe Thassos, Skopolos Skiathos.
Just me & the missus!
Any suggestions please?0 -
Got a great contact for detached place in Kassiopi with private pool if your interested.
Thing is, the property may be too big for the pair of you.0 -
Live a little, jump on a flight to Athens, get to the harbour and see where you end up.dajavouslagan said:Thinking of booking a Greek island but bit bored of the all inclusive type holiday. Maybe a boutique hotel, a little bit authentic maybe.Maybe Thassos, Skopolos Skiathos.

So many apartments on the islands geared up for this type of travel1 -
Go to Crete, Chania end of the island is greener due to the mountains, Heraklion end is also very good . Hire a villa , much better than a hotel.dajavouslagan said:Thinking of booking a Greek island but bit bored of the all inclusive type holiday. Cabs are cheap enough, tavernas are generally excellent and a good price.2 -
Going up to Unst this summer.
Last time I was there I saw a car with a Charlton sticker on it which was surprising!0 -

But then I’ve never really been to a bad Greek island.
I have no idea why anyone would go all inclusive in Greece. The eating out in lovely tavernas is part of the experience.
Enjoy!8 -

A friend of mine went to Samothraki and raved about it. The pictures looked amazing. Loads of waterfalls to swim in etc.... but he is a traveller rather than a typical holidaymaker so no idea how hotels/restaurants would be.1 -
Cost. It’s that simple.KBslittlesis said:

The beach at Koukounaries takes some beating you can also do a day trip to Athens (it's a long day mind), Skopolos is also close by and is worth going to, we only went there for the day, looking back wished we had stayed over there for 2/3 nights.KBslittlesis said:

anyone done the Titanic Exhibition in Belfast? If so how long does it take? We are only in port for one day on a cruise and also want to visit The Giants Causeway. Is both in a day possible?0
-
Just the usual for me this year. A long weekend in Leysdown and probably a stint in Belmarsh. Will play it by ear.26

Holidaying with my wife and youngest son (18).
Something a bit different this year. Berlin for five nights and then the train to Prague where we will spend 3 nights and then the train to Budapest for four nights.
Really looking forward to it. (Thanks to @PragueAddick for his help and recommendations.)4 -
Koukounaries is ok but I prefer Troulos BayHastingsRed said:

Belfast-born son-in-law says trying to do both in a day is not really possible. Titanic worth spending half a day on, and Giant's Causeway is 70 miles away.LargeAddick said:anyone done the Titanic Exhibition in Belfast? If so how long does it take? Our kids bought us a 4 night stay in Madrid for Xmas and we went in May.
This is one city that has passed over our head, never once gave visiting it a thought. But wow, what a beautiful city, me and the missus loved Madrid. Thanks kids!0 -

Reckon the museum looks interesting whereas the causeway looks a bit meh to me.

We went to the Sporades islands last year, took the rental car over on a ferry from Volos after going to a wedding near Thessaloniki (great city for food!) and by far our favourite spot was Alonnisos. Chilled vibe, and some really interesting spots to drive to on the island including some incredible beach tavernas - couldn't recommend it more highly.dajavouslagan said:Thinking of booking a Greek island but bit bored of the all inclusive type holiday. We stayed here, I think it was pretty reasonably priced from memory as it didn't have a pool or anything but I'm sure there are more classic hotels elsewhere. Didn't notice any big resorts as it didn't seem that kind of place with Skopelos and Skiathos being the more well-trodden islands in the Sporades.1 -
Off to Albufeira for 2 weeks first thing tomorrow. Doesn't look like we'll have a chance to meet up with @Algarveaddick unfortunately but can't wait to get out there. My mate has a place out there and told me about a classic car show not far from our villa this Sunday, my wife is suitably unimpressed!0
