Gillesphey was part of an impressive first half performance, not sure what you was watching if watching at all .. the mid 3 controlled the game and was impressive first half then Wimbledon went 4 in mid and out numbered us a lot more in the secondcharltonbob said:

Utter nonsense. Gillesphey was beaten in the air by their winger in the first five minutes and had to be dug out by Edwards on numerous occasions. He was lucky their mobile striker was coming off our right.RonnieMoore said:

The midfield three were constantly out-muscled and provided only one pass for a wingback to cross. Their (mf3) only shot I remember was a weak one by Coventry, my six year old niece would have hit it harder.
Were you there, watch it on a stream, or just take a contrary view to other observers comments?8 -

Style of play, along with formations can change several times during a game to fit with the oppositions, pre-season games are there to get minutes in and formations/styles tried out prior to when the season starts for real.golfaddick said:

I would hope that if we play sides that match up 3-5-2, then NJ will realise that one of the three CMs will have to play quarterback, get the ball off CBs and put the wingbacks in. Otherwise prepare for a season of hoofball. Plenty on display today.0

Hence why he's mixing things up, playing a mixture of those you can expect to see on a regular basis, with those who'll play bit part role - Although I do agree, that you're probably right he probably does know his starting eleven...
But my post was saying, why does he need to show that to the rest of the League so early...? - You're right its a 46-game season, but we want to keep Wigan guessing for as long as possible don't we
Not to mention he can also use these friendlies to trial other possibilities; Ramsay for example has been trialled at RCB as GarryManilow was alluding to... But I still expect him to start the season as a Wing-Back.1 -
