I’m not sure I fully understand Nathan’s stance regarding loan deals. He has stated that loan deals only benefit the parent club in improving the players ability. Whilst this may hold an element of truth surely a season long loan deal could benefit both parties? Of course we have loaned plenty of duds over the years but we undoubtedly gained some quality ones too. A certain player of the year in Jed Rak-Sakai comes to mind!

How many times have you seen Dixon play?
Before we signed him I was excited at this raw but talented individual.
what I’m hearing from the training ground is making me even more excited.Pace like Campbell, stamina of a flying wingback, skills and tricks like nobody else we have. He’s very raw but there is a lot of excitement about him. Really has an x -factor about him.
five him a bit of time to adjust. Don’t put too much pressure on him and hopefully we won’t coach it all out of him. And then he’ll wreak havoc!
This sounds very exciting. Obviously I expect him to play U21s and Bristol Street Trophy at first just to get him acclimated but someone that's got TCs pace but with a bit more of a trick to his game is an very exciting option to potentially have.5 -

Michael Cooper has just joined Sheffield Utd, meaning that Adam Davies is back to the bench which is nice, but also that Plymouth now only have one keeper on the books and will be in for one themselves. It's a weird keeper market this summer. There were some rolled eyes when we signed Mannion as a potential backup when we already had two keepers but I'm very glad we did or we would have had to start this season with AMB or Isted in goal again.18

Chelsea have about 8 and everyone below that is in some weird 4D poker game trying to sign just one (I know they are not directly linked just showing the general weirdness.)5 -
Dixon securing a work permit and permissions seems to be the big problem with that transfer.
I wouldn’t mentally factor him in until he becomes a realistic option to pick, at the moment he is a bit of a fantasy and each of us is imprinting on his name and game the player we would like him to be.
Wait and see, it might go all Andy Delort.
As for loans, we ought to have learned our lesson by now, never loan an indifferent player in from a ‘bigger’ club unless they will definitely do a better job than one of our eager youngsters coming through.
It is an unnecessary spend and a poor signal to our own guys

Wouldn’t the authorities favour a surgeon over a footballer?0 -

Feels like Taylor is one that's never quite going to work out. The injuries really haven't helped his cause and now Coventry is the undisputed starter in his position, he's not going to get games with us because I don't think he can play further forward and compete with Doc,Berry and Anderson for one of those 2 slots.
I am not surprised there's interest from Rotherham though, he came with a good reputation from Burton.0 -

The thing thats particularly disappointing about Terry Taylor is that when he arrived from Burton and you looked at his compilation video, his best attribute was dead ball deliveries from corners and free kicks. We are completely hopeless at that. I think Coventry is a decent player but he cant take a decent free kick and we never seem to score from corners either19

Feel that Taylor hasn’t had a fair crack of the whip, so, can’t be good for his morale that he’s not been given a chance.Having said that, Jones will have seen him in pre season games/training to have formed an impression and I/we just have to trust his judgement.9

Would have liked to see Taylor being given a proper chance, shame he didn't start again Brum let alone wasn't on the bench.3

Two weeks to get Dixons work permit sorted out. Anyone else thinking this ain’t going to happen in time ?0

Pretty sure Chelsea have a history of signing players who weren't eligible for work permits and then loaning them out to countries where there weren't the same restrictions.
In fact didn't we do the same with a couple of young African lads a few years back?
Surely the worst case scenario is we complete the signing without the permit (assuming we are 100% confident it will get granted eventually) and he just trains with us till the paperwork is rubber stamped.4 -
I think Jones' comment about Zach Mitchell is more telling than anything when it comes to Taylor: 'he’s aggressive, front-footed and really mobile. So these are people we want to take forward'. Taylor's known for putting in a tackle but I think he's not a blood and thunder type midfielder and I guess he hasn't been able to adapt to the front-footed press like Jones would want. When Edun came on against Birmingham he was flying into tackles and challenging for high balls so he's clearly trying to work the way he's being asked, you'd have to suspect Taylor hasn't been able to change his game in the same way and that's why Edun made the squad and Taylor didn't. I think it's a real shame as I was comfortable with having him as the understudy to Coventry and I think he'll probably go on and be good elsewhere32

Our midfield looks pretty weak when Taylor goes. Suspect we’ll sign one when Fraser goes and Edun will be the 6th choice2
