Pretty sure Chelsea have a history of signing players who weren't eligible for work permits and then loaning them out to countries where there weren't the same restrictions.
In fact didn't we do the same with a couple of young African lads a few years back?
Surely the worst case scenario is we complete the signing without the permit (assuming we are 100% confident it will get granted eventually) and he just trains with us till the paperwork is rubber stamped.

Agree. I think there's an element of bias as we're used to his underwhelming displays at left back / left wing back but he showed up in midfield on Tuesday imho0 -
I never entirely bought that. It was kinder to the player to say that, but it wasn't as if we just drifted through the last 3 months with nothing to play for where we could be really patient with him, and that the priority was that Taylor came back in the summer as a key player for this season.Chunes said:

Not seen anything from Taylor in a Charlton shirt but he has been injured and played, or usually not played, under three different managers.
Might be a lower end of league 1 side willing to take a punt on him on loan if we subsidise his wages.0 -

I still think there’s players who’ve played some part in the first two games that NJ would see go if it helps get him who he sees as making us stronger. Writing seems to be on the wall for Ness, Fraser, AMB and Taylor but I think likes of Tennai, Edun, REG and Small could also leave as we scramble to get the balance that sees us be able to bring other bodies in. I still think we’re at least 3 starting XI players short.0

Think he's got McGrandles syndrome. Not sure why NJ prefers CC to TT as he signed neither.
1. TT at least three inches taller than CC (who Wiki measures at 5'10" - what?)
2. TT is more athletic and can put in a tackle.
3. TT is the only player in the squad who has a dead ball delivery.
4. CC played 17 games last season and was never better than mediocre in any.
5. CC is not a Dobson type CDM, he is seen more of a 'quarterback'. So why are we playing hoofball?12 -
Interesting that Taylor is quite a similar player to Coventry in possession. In that position, if it's a choice between a playmaker or an anchor... We're a direct team that relies on quick transitions, so what's the point of having a playmaker... NJ has more need for the more physical anchor-type rather than a Pirlo who will keep possession.0

Sounds like the Georgian GK is signing a season loan with Bournemouth before joining Liverpool next summer.
That leaves the Cherries with five goalkeepers on the books

Taylor can actually move the ball forwards. Did anybody see Conor's sideways run across the edge of the AFCW box that ended with a shot that Simon Church would have been proud of. TBF it was one of our few on target.2

I think our odds of signing Ireland international Mark Travers, who is highly highly rated at Dean Court, slim to none. Would love to be wrong on that as he would likely be one of the better keepers to ever touch this division imo.1 -

Travers is an excellent keeper but I expect he'd have the pick of the championship. Someone like Swansea if they don't go back for Carl Rushworth would make a lot of sense.1

Which keeper ' domino ' falls to us?
Cooper to Sheffield United probably wouldn't trigger anything given that apparently Adam Davies failed a medical with us. It also means the Pilgrims will be looking to get someone in.
I agree Travers would easily get a Championship gig ( maybe Plymouth?)
If say Ramsdale or Johnstone go to Southampton would that mean Joe Lumley becomes available.
Are we still looking for a clear number one or are we now just looking for someone to compete with Mannion? For me Lumley would be the latter0 -
And when we talk about loans, never forget that the first two were loans, although in Josh Cullen’s case it can be hard to remember that as he spent two full seasons with us, was almost ever-present when we managed to injure every other decent midfielder, and personally I dont recall a game when he wasn’t one of the top three performers on the day. Moving Taylor on is likely more to do with the fact that we can't shift Fraser but we still need to improve the midfield/other areas. I'm sure Jones would rather shift Fraser than Taylor but there (unsurprisingly) seems to be no takers for Fraser.
More likely to be interest in Taylor which would then open up budget to strengthen the squad whilst still having Fraser on the books.10
