Just got our Reading tickets - it seems to suggest we are all up in the corner (upper tier) rather than behind the goal. I have often thought we give our visitors an unnecessary advantage by having their fans right behind the goal rather than the south end two blocks of the AC stand
My ticket is definitely right behind the goal (block R30)

Mine was GU1 - which is what they are now selling. So perhaps we have filled behind the goal and are now moving round the corner.

    Those numbers are much better.
NJ thrives on all noisy support stuff, and I hope it transmits to the team performance.

A 2,963 sell out at Reading earlier this year and a lifetime of shite performances in front of big turnouts coupled with classic wins with just 400 there tells me these things never go how we want them to.

    This is a new era.

Seems like they want away supporters controlled and paying more.

Sneaky.  It has often been mentioned on here that we give the stand with the best acoustics to the away support (JS being basically a big funnel). It certainly was in my day, but of course I have less experience of a live atmosphere since the wraparound of the home sections as I do not attend.

At Reading, next it will be crowd effects blasted across the sound system ...

One thing you can’t accuse Reading of is unreasonable pricing for away fans

Bought myself a ticket, first away game in years for me! What's the easiest route there via train to Reading? (Heading from Staines)

best look on google maps and or trainline. I looked on the former and if you are Staines on thames there are direct trains to Reading. If you are coming from somewhere else then lots of reading trains run from Paddington

Direct trains from Staines to Reading dep at 23/53 minutes past the hour & take about 50 minutes, either use the shuttle buses from outside the station or board a train to Reading Green Park & its about a 15 minute walk to the ground.

Did the walk back last year and took slightly longer than the 15mins, because the fields were flooded. Should be much quicker for everyone on Saturday. Very straightforward walk.

Me and Paul Davenport made a right cock up of the walk back last time! We tried to take a bit of a short cut, and had to do a bit of platform jumping to get past some puddles, also had to balance along some curbs etc. That with the result made it a bit of a miserable day out last time.

Hoping with the weather looking good, and with us actually looking good at football again, will be a different outcome
  • This is what confused me because Reading's website said it's a 10 minute walk from Green Park but Google Maps is saying it's a half hour walk!

Outside areas covered by a Tube line, times to walk anywhere start to rely upon estimations based on an as the crow flies distance; and the fact that nobody actually walks anywhere, they drive or get an Uber.

  • Google Maps has you walking along Longwater Avenue and down Brook Drive.. think I might just risk Reading Green Park and follow everyone else then!
  • Extremely basic train station at Green Park, but there is a small shop next to it which appears to sale beers etc.

says its a Tescos so will have beverages and groceries. ah, but keep in mind it's gonna be warm so don't buy any frozen stuff.

I am in sunbury (surprise, surprise) - you can get a train direct to Reading from Staines.

Edit - beaten to it with better info

Made a late decision to go to this as although I really don't like Reading's ground and the sterile area it's in, it's not far from me and thanks to green park station I won't need to pay a fortune for parking.

Green Park is on the Victoria Line if you are not sure.

If someone wants a beer before the game the Nags head in Russel street (5 minute walk from reading west station), runs a double decker bus for a fiver and returns to the pub after the game.

The pub is fantastic and serves a great selection of real ales and foreign beers at sensible prices. Has a large seated area at the back of the pub and shows all the games.

Posted this in February and a few Addicks came along.
