                    Looks impressive. Like the floodlighting.
Today, our development company, 2020 Developments, formally submitted a detailed application for a new 25,000-capacity stadium at its Power Court site in the heart of Luton town centre

Hope it happens. This has been dragging on now.0

They've been talking about it for over thirty years now. It'll never happen3

Hopefully it will involve them bulldozing most of Luton16

They can just move to the Valley. They’re taking us over by stealth!16

Unless there's an entrance through a row of terraced houses, I'm not interested.

Wow, that's the first "new" stadium in ages that's left me genuinely impressed. That's not fishbowly or anything! Although, I doubt that the style of football Luton Town will be playing is that "Champions League under the lights" style. Note also, that questions will have to be asked about the legitimacy of a football match with no referee in sight, and the appalling attacking shape that they seem to be exhibiting in the photo.0

We’ll more likely get the old ground they don’t want no more and is past its bestSillybilly said:They can just move to the Valley. They’re taking us over by stealth!8 -
luton will be well and truly bigger than watford with the bigger power court stadium to go with their 2 trophies.0

Where did they get that backdrop from? Or did I miss the news story that Luton has been relocated to Tuscany?9

Harsh, the best Indian food I've ever had was in Luton. You can take the rest of it though.ForeverAddickted said:Hopefully it will involve them bulldozing most of Luton0 -

Very early 80's and relocating to Milton Keynes.Richard J said:

True but that was an out of town stadium , i think it was called the Luton Bowl . This one is in the horrendous town centre and that's been in offing since the mid nineties. The Local Council and residents won't let it happen and money will be a massive issue even if it did get the go ahead. .Richard J said:

Yes can confirm thats Luton in the backgroundeastterrace6168 said:Looks hideous...🤦♂️2 -
Feels like this has been talked about for about as long as Southend moving to Fossetts Farm and probably has about as much chance of actually happening as that.2

If they build a new stadium I doubt it will come with the LED light fitting like the one in the mock up. The engineering to do that will be beyond anything ever seen or imagined in Luton.0

The 7-1 at their place scarred me.1

There's complete support for this scheme, occupying a derelict plot of land in the centre, but there's lot of work to do to the site to make it ready before they can start.Bedsaddick said:

The supports holding that lighting rig up look like an afterthought. I predict a disaster.
Anyway, I like marching through someone's living room to get to the away end. Long may that continue.2 -

Not from the residents there aren’t . I know plenty of Luton fans who live outside of town and they all think that it will never happen because those who live in town and have absolutely no interest in football and will do their best to stop it. The locals want a different type of building built on the site.killerandflash said:

Is it slap bang in the town centre ? Seems a bit daft to me. An extra 25000 people trying to get into a town centre on a Saturday. I hope they've planned for plenty of parking. Free parking that is. For say, 10000 cars. Expect not.
And what happens when things turn nasty ? Millwall say ?? Luton introduced a ban on away fans due to the disturbance in 1985 iirc. Imagine thousands of hooligans having a good old punch up amongst all the shoppers.
All these out of town stadiums must be wrong then.

That must be seventh or eighth time in the last thirty years that's happened. I will believe it when i see it .killerandflash said:https://www.lutontown.co.uk/en/news/power-court-set-for-key-milestone-planning-date

Yes they are. They might have been the solution in the 1990s, but not now. Sometimes clubs have no choice, if that's the only land, but in this case there's a large site in the centre available.golfaddick said:Is it slap bang in the town centre ? Seems a bit daft to me. Most football fans hate out of town stadiums, stuck on some dreary retail park with nothing there, and it encourages car use. The new stadium will be a short walk from Luton station.15 -

Colchester. Nothing near the ground, train into Colchester and then a bus service to the ground with a mix of home and away fans. Surely that’s more difficult to police than town centre fans.killerandflash said:

The worst of the out of town stadiums for me is the Amex, nothing around it , nightmare on the train , nightmare on the park and ride.
