Mitchell obviously injured, Edwards I assume not considered ready just yet. Not surprised to see Campbell start. Plenty of attacking options on the bench. Must admit I've never been convinced by either Gillesphey or REG so both need to step it up today. Thought Anderson would be serving a suspension today and thought we might have seen Taylor on the bench.2

That's a very decent bench.
Can understand Berry benched to perhaps come on as an impact sub?
TC's pace coming on could be a game changer later on, perhaps given more of a free role, like against Rotherham.
Godders and Mr Cheat Code himself present new challenges to tiring defenders.1 -

Surprised by this, can only assume NJ wants someone who is better with the ball at his feet today

This is nothing to do with who played better midweek. However the only way Taylor gets on the pitch is if Coventry is injured.
Otherwise Docherty and Campbell will cover more yards then Coventry, and will play at a higher tempo, so it’s more likely both of them may need to replaced.
Anderson can do that role, Taylor can’t. We are joint top in the league without playing a double pivot, it’s not going to change now because Taylor had one good game against Cambridge.0 -

Not a fan of that overall, midfield will be very industrious but when Berry is tired/out of form then there's no ideal replacement for him, as we're still lacking a proper attacking midfielder.0

REG to me suits the wide CB role better than A Mitchell anyway, as in that position ideally you want someone who's better on the ball, rather than a pure stopper.2

Think Seth was suggesting above that Mitchell got injured in the warm up?0

Blackpool may be 19th after a poor start, but they've sacked their manager and replaced him with Steve Bruce, who has made a big impact aleady in the past couple of games.
I wouldn't underestimate Blackpool.

Glad to see REG starting, like his pace, think he'll help RAMSAY out a lot more getting forward than Mitchell.

Alfie May dropped to the bench for Birmingham - third choice behind Dykes and Stansfield now?4

On the one hand a settled side, playing the same starting XI each week breeds confidence and familiarity amongst the players ... but gives the oppo a bloody good idea if what's coming.
A bit of rotation shakes things up, keeps our players on their toes so they don't become complacent, certainly keeps the other mob on their toes because they won't know who they're going to be up against and means we can shuffle up our impact players off the bench.
The days of 14/15 players playing out the season with little change barring injury are long gone; it's now 20/22 players and tactical subbing.
