TC playing LWB? Or 433 with Campbell and Kanu on the wing?
Jones has now got to play a different system to get anything out of this game

I like the look of their number 8 though. Exactly the kind of player we should be targeting in January

At the game. We're playing absolutely shite. Credit to Blackpool for incisive, attacking football.

Ahadme probably been our best player despite the unfortunate own goal

Only positive is we are lucky we are only 2-0 down.
  • Whisper it quietly, but I think we might not be as good as our league position has us.

The fact we changed the front two again, and then to an entire different formation - one in which we lack the wingers to play as we recruited for a 3-5-2 - shows you all you need.

Ultimately though, just have to be patient and see what happens.

In fact, I'm sure FA will be shocked to hear this from me, but if Ahadme is hooked at HT before anyone else I will be absolutely fuming
  • The first 15-20 was OK, steady but not spectacular ... but since then it's been a quicker collapse than England's batting against the might of the Windies' feared pace attack.

    That was awful.

I hope that Jones is giving the players the mother of all half-time sprays (and then turn it on himself) because everything has been wrong in this game.

The midfield has been non-existent, the defence a bit shaky (probably because they don't know which of the three or four Blackpool midfield runners left alone by oir midfield they're supposed to pick up and our forwards have had nothing: no decent passes to work with and no protection fron the twat with the whistle.

Can we get (at least) a point from this game? Yes ... but everyone - players and manager - need to buck up their ideas big time.

Glad I was sitting down reading that ;)
  • Unbelievable how bad we are. 2-0 flatters us.

Think A Campbell has been poor but Anderson would be a nightmare in this game and Berry is out of form. This would have been a good game for Taylor

Taylor is not an attacking midfielder.
  • The Ahadme OG - at least the bloke tried to assert something physically and won the header.

More than you can say for the back three today who have all played like mice.
Potentially highlights that players like Alex Mitchell are out there, doing more than just the job of a Footballer, and when those individuals are missing, we're an unorganised mess
It will be interesting to know if Mitchell is injured or was just dropped as Jones wanted to play E-G.

This shows that NJs system is flawed. 2-0 down on 30 mins and he pulls off a young player who wasn't really the issue (their goals both came from play down our right hand side) to bring on a winger, but then there's no other winger in the entire squad to play on the opposite side.

Kanu, REG, Gillesphey all having very poor games. The rest haven't been much better, but those 3 have stood out for me
My brother, Small lazily showed their best crosser of the ball onto his stronger foot to put the ball on a sixpence in our penalty area.

He’s not been good this season attacking and if he’s going to start letting the side down defensively as well, he needs some time out of the team.
But in a game where we need goals he would offer some kind of overlapping and attacking threat to support Campbell. With Gillesphey behind him, TC will be having to beat 2 players on his own all the time. And Gillesphey, REG and the other Campbell have all been shite too so it’s not like there weren’t other options to bring off that wouldn’t unbalance things so much.

Gutted that Zach went off injured on Tuesday, would have been a better replacement for his namesake.

I'd honestly bring Aneke on as an attacking midfielder and Godden for Kanu

Pretty poor first half. No creativity whatsoever. Now it's better with TC we look unbalanced at the back. This could get messy...

Chuks has to come on if only to balance against the big CB. DK was lucky not to get booked early so I would take him off. You can always bring Godden on for Ahadme after an hour or so. Campbell is the wild card we can replace when we have a better idea of how the second half is panning out.

It's not a dead rubber ( they were 4-1 up against Cambridge and didn't win...) but it will be tough to get anything now..

    COYA!
We've only score more than 1 goal in a game once so far this season.

This is what we get when your wingbacks cant cross, your midfield has no creativity & your strikers have no proven track record (or are converted wingers).

And then your best centre half is missing.

  • Morgan 9-1 anytime.  22-1 first scorer.  I couldn’t resist a 50p nibble.  Does that make me a bad person?
    Enjoy your winnings !

No I know he isn’t but he might help us get some control in the middle of the pitch. Our midfield 3 is being overrun by their midfield 2 and we’re barely using them on the ball

I think Blackpool are a better team than 19th in the league. They've had twice as many shots on target than us, but conceded four times as many.

I wouldn't take too much notice of League positions in this early season.

Blackpool may be 19th after a poor start, but they've sacked their manager and replaced him with Steve Bruce, who has made a big impact aleady in the past couple of games.

    I wouldn't underestimate Blackpool.

Blackpool not taking too much notice of ours!

I don't think it was a matter of personal more about the system being looked at by opposing managers and saying how do we play against it. All three midfielders are chasing shadows because they are being overmanned. This was going to happen, how Jones deals with it is important because other managers will do the same.
