They picked the good team. Reckon there might be a few goals
  • Never gonna win, we've got strikers on the pitch

Hopefully Ireland will do us a favour... Left-Back is such a problem for us

Who are you backing mate, assume you're from Fenland?

    6 changes is pretty telling.
And regardless of whether Henderson does well tonight, giving a different goalie a game was long overdue.
  • Credit where it's due to Carsley.  The balance of the side looks much better & is pretty much the team I would've picked.

Expecting a much better performance today.  Famous last words!!!!

That Finnish chant sounds so daunting from the stands... Are they going to head off on a Viking raid?

Is there not a left back on the squad other than TAA, seems we shoe horn him in recently and he offers nothing

If Angel Gomes is as tall as 5ft 6in then I'm a Dutch man; Sam Van Soapbox.

I find him so frustrating. He’s not good enough to be a central midfielder while his defending as a right (or left) back is average at best, but it seems he keeps his place because he is capable of a wonder ball out of nothing or a lovely strike from distance. The trouble is, his beautiful defence splitting passes and wonderstrikes are too rare for him to be worth it. It seems to me he makes more poor passes than good ones. Not only that, whenever he does do something good, the commentators jizz their pants and wax lyrical as if he’s the saviour of the nation.

  • Lovely goal from Grealish... He almost looked surprised to get the ball for a moment

Oh look, Gomes is quite good. Who knew
  • Proper formation. Players in their proper places. Much better.

TAA with more passes than anyone so far and lovely dink from Gomes to Grealish to beat a static defence.

    Apart from Alexander-Arnold ;)

Yeah, and he passed the ball straight to a defender after a long build up a couple of minutes ago. And got closed down too easily near our corner flag earlier.
Being the one who makes the most 5 yard passes though. That’s awesome. 😉

Still the Finns look as threatening as us. Once again the defending is shakey.
What has Carsley done to our defending.

We could perhaps move the ball a bit quicker.

I don't like Right footers playing in a left Back position but today it might not matter.
The real shame is the best left Back for England, Shaw never seems to be fit.

Another poor half . Why don’t we create anything anymore. It’s almost like watching Charlton .
  • Yep it’s all gone a bit slow and pedestrian.

We try and play like the Spanish - but it’s always at half the speed

It's because everything is so slow and pedestrian. There's no space for our most creative passer (TAA) to pass into and no space for our best dribbler (Grealish) to run into

We're playing the game at a snail's pace and I know they're losing, but Finland look comfortable and like they're growing into it. Can't keep standing on the ball, taking 8-9 touches and then passing it two yards sideways.

    I think you’re right .
  • Hmmm, we looked poor again towards the end of that half after a promising start

The stats give us more possesion but the Finns more shots.

Found it quite boring to be honest! We're just so bloody slow at moving the ball!

That’s because there’s another team in the way, isn’t that what they are supposed to do?
