Lyle Taylor - August 2025 signed for Chelmsford City (p295)

What an absolute c***...but we all knew that anyway I guess!4
-
He said: “If anything, at the time of my signing, fans were pretty underwhelmed, and I can say that without any thought of hesitation.
“Before things started, fans would have probably thought: ‘Is that all?’
“Charlton are a big football club, so I can’t imagine signing the AFC Wimbledon striker at 28 was their view of going for it and having a real go at the league."
It seems like a long time ago, so my memory might be letting me down here, but I seem to remember his signing being well received at the time?

Lads, I know he's hardly flavour of the month, but can you give the c-bombs a rest? Ta.

Simply Gaslighting the reporter, who probably thought he would get the lowdown on his desertion, he clearly didn't. Never mind, Taylor's career is coming to an end and he's got to find a way to make a living for the rest of his life, just don't put 'committed professional' on your CV Mr Taylor. Now let's close the thread, it's simply giving oxygen to his notoriety.1

Agreed that he has to find a way in life going forward but in earning thousands of pounds a month for many years he wouldn't give his shirt to my mates little girl because it would cost him £50, whilst climbing into a Mercedes worth a fortune.

LT scores another, 5 in the season so far so on course for 10-15 I predicted on the Cambridge thread,if he stays fit and plays 30/35 games. And thats in a poor side.2

Seen the very brief highlights of the game after my post above.Got to say that his contribution in build up play was excellent and awareness of space in the penalty area ...that of seasoned pro with an instinct for goals. He does look like he carries abit more weight but still has movement
So the question is would LT offer more to CAFC than Danny Hylton?
The answer is as plain as the goals scored tally.
Scoham- love that clip!4 -

Who was he playing for then ?
As so many Charlton supporters have "mates" of other clubs I won't just assume it's Charlton.
Cambridge, Colchester ?
Since when did players from the EFL give shirts away ?
They are told by their clubs not too.
I remember Tony Watt doing it but quite rare.
You could be asked dozens of times every game if you gave the shirt away. 46 × £50 =£2300
Seems mandatory in the Premier, where many are sold on eBay or similar sites.
Lyle Benjamin Button Taylor left CAFC and went to big school before ending up back in the reception class in the infants.
I know Lyle is hated by most Charlton fans for obvious reasons but I have heard many good deeds Taylor has done but pointless saying about them on CL where he is the devil.

But when you sign a player there are other factors that have to be considered.7 -

Agree.
Taylor is the past and bridges have been burnt and there will be no phoenix rising from these ashes.

Also worth remembering that Hylton is there primarily as a coach. Watching him coach TC through his goal against Chelsea u21s was very good to see. If that had been Taylor instead of telling him what run to make he would have been pointing out all the nearest available emergency exits

He stills looks overweight and dont think for one minute he would do a job in league 1 as proven last season. On top of that Hylton was brought in mainly for coaching and a back up striker behind Leaburn , Godden, Yahyai and Chuks so don’t know how one can compare the two.4 -
killerjerrylee said:The bit that he conveniently forgets is that some, from memory I think it was three, of the outstanding games, were played in June and the other six in July. His contract with Charlton ran until 30th June, and he was perfectly entitled not to extend it beyond that date. It was his refusal to play the three earlier ones that is inexcusable. He was still on the payroll and presumably accepted his June pay packet, but did nothing to earn it. For that, I will never forgive him. One goal in those three games, and we would have stayed up.4

Match of the day awaits1

Should be in action tonight v arsenal u21s. Can't find scorer odds for him but expect he'll deliver, especially given recent form.0

At the risk of repeating myself and being accused of being Lyle Taylor again, Taylor did what he did, he should of played the 4 games he was in contract for and then stopped playing. Fans would of been more understanding if he had, that all said he was a contributing factor to us getting relegated but IMHO I dont think he would of kept us up singlehandedly that season he was alright for us at championship but nothing special and had been injured aswell. I think losing Gallagher was the biggest loss as when he left we lacked creativity and drive in the midfield.
Would we have had a better chance with Taylor ? Yes but is it nailed on survival ? No. He did what he did, he burnt his bridges but im certainly not wasting any time or energy putting level of hate towards him. Its time to move on.

I thinks it’s time us, and those who cannot get over the loss of May receive some support. A therapy group, where we can sit down and talk it through. A bring an end to the recurring thoughts we have about the goals “They would have scored”.2
