And why the heavy watering before and and half time every game ?
It adds to the fast flowing attacking football that we play.
  • I assume there must've been a guarantee?

The pitch looks awful and there's five months to go (the worst five months weather and growing wise).  I Dunno who negotiates these things for Charlton, but at this moment, that (reported) one million pounds looks about as good as the one spent on Ahadme.

Consider the amount of shite on it every week we should have much better grass.
  • Starting to look like a Sunday morning pitch fit for the Sunday morning football

Not quite yet but if they train hard, I’m sure they will reach that level.

I'm proud of the effort the pitch has put in. It hasn't tried to hide. I'm proud.
  • The women now play at The Valley, I wonder what a traditional pitch would look like by now if it had double the wear of previous seasons.

Other clubs with similar pitches have no problems playing lots of games on them. And we're not even into the coldest part of winter yet.

Absolutely this. This looks like a we want our money money-back situation....

We couldn’t even sign up a £1m pitch that’s any good , that’s how shit it all is
    Its been Charltonised already.
  • I attended a youth game at Gillingham a couple of weeks ago, their pitch made ours look like Hackney marshes, it was lush and pristine

Didn't Wembley and a couple of other places go through this with the first season or two?

Seriously, it looks like a threadbare old carpet - no different than last year. Cant this club get ANYTHING right?

Or at least communicate the reasons why it appears to be failing.
  • Surely, we can't have been had over by the SMT to bring some waves and strays to lay a pitch, similarities to what shirkers NJ has signed up!

I find it very bizarre when season after season, window after window, people start lauding newly laid turf from a grass company who they had never heard of prior to then joining and praising our board for savvy business - based on a look ata YouTube video or a handful of other clubs fan’s tweets, instead of watching it be played on and commenting on what they actually see

The hybrid-stitched Desso pitch will have a much greater durability, meaning it will be in better condition throughout the campaign. 👀

I think it's fair to have expected anyone paying a million or whatever it was to have done their research, but I guess not with us.

Leyton Orient laid the same hybrid-stitched Desso pitch in June 2023 using another company called Chappelow Sports Turf company based in Yorkshire.

The pitch is first class ( last season and this season) and they have a similar amount of games as us as the Tottenham women’s team play WSL games at Brisbane Road.

Maybe we’d have got more results if we purposely set up to have a dreadful pitch? It would match the style we’ve been playing all season.

To be fair the same company laid Lutons pitch a couple of years back and that's still excellent. ;)
  • I haven't seen the pigeons for a while, maybe they ate all the plastic bits?

So basically we've bought the Chuks of the pitch world. Expensive and can only handle a few games per season.
