We also have about 6 strikers (if you count TC) so would be mad to get morekillerandflash said:I don't see strikers as a priority, as unless we sign a cheat code striker for this level, which is incredibly unlikely, they'll still be feeding on scraps.
How does NJ see us scoring goals, as I don't have a clue based on the first half of the season. Is it from midfield, as than we'll need a classy No 10 to create chances. If it from old fashioned wingers getting to the byline and slinging in crosses? If it from inverse wingers cutting in to score with their stronger foot? If it from attacking wing backs?0 -
One that could actually find the net, would be nice.fenaddick said:

There must be more of NJ's mates in their 30's that can add quality to our midfield like Berry, Docherty and Campbell.
Fingers crossed.4 -
Campbell is 26 and Docherty is 28 and never played for NJ. I think criticising our midfield recruitment is fair but might as well be accurateAddickinedi said:There must be more of NJ's mates in their 30's that can add quality to our midfield like Berry, Docherty and Campbell.

Have we scoured Luton? If so, we need to cover Bedfordshire in more depth...3

Yes, who would not be happy with a squad showing relegation form.ShootersHillGuru said:Don’t expect much to happen. I believe Jones is basically content with the squad and any incoming will be stop gap.0 -
But if we discount Chuks as not available, Hylton as more a coaching than a playing role and Dixon as much too raw, we've got more midfielders than strikers......... I think we need more L1/Championship quality up front and at the top of midfield tbh........ more than we need defenders, wing backs and defensive mids........?fenaddick said:

Like Godden has? Chance creation is the bigger problem than our strikers finishing. We have one winger in the squad and no attacking midfielders who can create or score goals.guinnessaddick said:

we have 3/4 midfielder slots and 2 striker slots available each game, we should have more midfielders. the midfielders should be of a better quality thoughWrightCharlie said:

Really not expecting us to make many if any signings in Jan, although hope I'm wrong. We obviously are crying out for an attacking midfielder but in the current system it's all a bit pointless as they will never see the ball1

Some creative midfielders and wingers might transform this side as we can all see - defence is fine, strikeforce - jury out til midfield sorted9

Not when some of them are dreadfulfenaddick said:

I genuinely think TC could explode into an absolutely magnificent player if he had better supply, we essentially ask him to create and finish all by himself which is a tough ask for a young man trying to find his feet. Bit of confidence could see him transform into our next big saleable playing asset imo.17

Not seen anything to think TC is the answer.YannTheMann said:I genuinely think TC could explode into an absolutely magnificent player if he had better supply, we essentially ask him to create and finish all by himself which is a tough ask for a young man trying to find his feet. I think TC has shown flashes of being an effective winger but as the only player in the squad who can go past a player, he’s normally doubled up on which doesn’t help him3

It is better to bring players in to a side playing well, so this will make things interesting for next month.
However, January will answer a few questions about this mob.

Defence is fine as long as Jones can stay fit.Midfield is a conundrum. Maybe an attacking midfield option would be nice.Lots of forwards, but do we need someone more agile than Hylton. Can't count on Chuks, and if Leaburn is out with Injury we just have Godden. Not convinced Ahadme is going to click. If this lot are serious and want promotion then we need to get rid of 2-3 and have quality replacements in the final third.1

One goal against a very poor side hardly changes anythingthenewbie said:

I think wingers are what we require, width is the one thing we have almost none of in this squad5

But that’s a dangerous game to play isn’t it? When Jones was injured for an extended period this season the defence looked much weaker. Frankly I don’t think there’s a single part of our squad that couldn’t be improved upon and, if we are to be promotion contenders next season, we should take any opportunity to strengthen any positions we can this January.fenlandaddick said:Defence is fine as long as Jones can stay fit.Midfield is a conundrum. Would Luke Wolfenden be beyond us? Not getting too many games for Ipswich. Loan with a view to perm if we go up. I think he is a leftie.1

We certainly need a left sided centre back, the defense isn't fine. I don't think Lloyd Jones will be sticking around, how often do we extend the contracts of our valuable players?
Need to prepare for life without him/sign an upgrade on Gillesphey.
Goalkeeper (if we can get a top no.1), left sided centre back, right back, box to box mid, creative mid, a winger and a striker who has a bit of zip as none of our strikers can really run.
That would be the minimum for me. I also wouldn't extend anyone's contracts apart from the obvious ones like Jones and Small. Get the rest gone.5 -

I'm just loving the optimism of the title including the word "actuals".4

They have to want to stay first, unless of course we have an extension clauseBraziliance said:We certainly need a left sided centre back, the defense isn't fine. I don't think Lloyd Jones will be sticking around, how often do we extend the contracts of our valuable players?
