  • Thought we did ok in the window, especially the bit about keeping hold of the players we could have cashed in on..... very pleased about that.
Wasn't sorry to see Edun, Campbell or even REG leave and was glad we kept our options open on Taylor, at least until the end of the season....... I think all those make sense.
Of course we'll never know why our chase for the winger guy wasn't successful, I hope it was for a good reason like we were aiming high rather than a bad reason like short-sighted, inflexible budgeting. Still we are where we are, as they say and wouldn't it be great if one or two of our youngsters took whatever chances they got and absolutely flew!
I'm looking forward to seeing how the new guys get on and am hoping they both offer enough and in pretty short order.

Reminds me of a bloke who said, 'What a pity we don't have the people running things who could put the world to rights but are instead driving cabs and cutting hair".  :D
Pretty shit quote. I don't do either of those as careers, but cab drivers and hairdressers/barbers can be some of the wittiest or knowledgeable people you will meet.

In a job where you spend most of your day in close contact with strangers, you have the potential to become a bit of an information sponge and have access to a network of different people from all walks of life to engage with.

I know that comes a bit serious, but that's just one of the laziest and short sighted things I've read to undermine someone's value in life based on their career.

    Fred Housgo.
  • CAFC last 10 games: W6 D3 L1=21 points
A very good return for the last 10 League games.
    From 14th to 7th place.

Unless we paid good money for an in form wide man from League 1 or 2, did we really want to go back to the Steve Gallen list of 5 players for a position and then at the last minute get the 6th choice after knock backs from the other 5 ?  Rhetorical question as it's a NO.

Gilbert has played so few game for a 23 year old that it's a big risk and McIntyre has had mixed reviews but we hope they are similar to Leicester fans on Yann or CAFC critics on Simon Francis.

I'm having a real battle trying to be optimistic (7th to 10th was my pick back in August) and we would need the nucleus of the team to stay fit to give us a chance of 5th or 6th.

Nathan Jones took 20 odd games to see width was paramount and Small and TC need to stay fit.

I hope we don't rue the inability to get another player who can operate wide with some pace or trickery.
Nathan's answer is that we have those options in the Academy / U21's (his interview yesterday) but I've just been slated by @FishCostaFortune for suggesting using Dixon because we didn't strengthen in those areas.

Not having a go at @FishCostaFortune ......more having a go at  NJ for saying one thing but then not doing it.
Nathan and Charlie say a lot of things and don’t do them, full of s*** the pair of them

Funnily enough, the people you are offended for have something known as a sense of humour.

I could and would confidently share that 'shit quote' with any of them.

I will admit you surprised me as you present yourself in your 'look at me' videos as a regular Jack the Lad.

I won't elaborate as it wouldn't be fair.

Blimey, thank goodness Major didn't share the full original quote.

"What a pity we don't have the people running things who could put the world to rights but are instead driving cabs, cutting hair and vlogging"

     ;)
If only the £1.87 I get a video was enough to pay the bills, I'd be laughing.

    Nurse!  :D
Just defending my future career when I move.

    I'm becoming a mobile hairdresser.

In the Summer window, I'd like to see us look at Jake Tabor, he's 22 years old and is playing very well, be it at quite a lot lower level. Over 150 goals in just over a season and a half.

He's currently being dubbed the next Jamie Vardy. Runs around like a mad man, works hard, wins headers and scores for fun. He has scored 6 hat tricks this season as well as 6 braces and has a total of 38 goals so far for Amersham this season and has 10 assists. He scored over 70 last season.

I doubt he'd make the step up straight away, but is the kind of player that I think would be great to bring in and potentially loan out to L2/NL for half a season. He had a trial with Wycombe but lost out to Richard Kone, who scored 44 goals in a season at Newham a similar level, they were trialling at the same time.

Amersham have valued him at just £40,000. So might just be worth a punt, would be good competition for Ahadme.

I’d expect he’s on just about every clubs radar. Agree though.

Blinking heck, we'd need to get some new goal nets!

  • Etete (now on loan at Bolton) is out for at least six weeks with a torn thigh muscle.
Exactly the risk you take when you look to sign someone who had barely played when we were supposedly interested. You run a very real risk of another injury occurring after a long time out as we have seen many a time over recent years.

    Arrh, that's a real shame, ain't it...😉

We felt at 36 she was too old for the women's team and mission impossible.
I personally thought too young for 62 year old Tom 'I do my own stunts' Cruise. I guess Tom is out of reacher for most women.
Ben Affleck is history and has moved on.

People keep saying Dixon impressed in the Birmingham game but it was Stockport he came off the bench for not Birmingham. His only other appearances are in the EFL trophy, the start against Orient where everyone was crap and 15 mins against Chelsea U21s.

He was lively in his 5 minutes against Stockport and pressed well but it was only 5 minutes. I don’t think he’s been given long enough in a proper senior match for most of us to have an informed opinion. If Jones feels he isn’t ready, he probably isn’t ready
    @sam3110
Bright light is he, bloody hell he maybe but if we need to call on his services this season Charlton are in deep shit.

Too young and no experience just what we don’t need.

Unless you have Will "the medical messiah" Abbott working his miracles behind the scenes apparently!

Thats ok then. We'll just flog TC's guts out until he gets an injury by being over played & misses the rest of the season.

Only way we'll see him this season is either:

    1) massive injury crisis
    2) season over with a few games to go and we give him some experience in a meaningless game

Come end of season we will see who is correct.  Can’t see Dixon cutting the mustard with Charlton this season.

Lol ok mate, fucking weird time to bump this about Dixon.... Every player at some point is "too young" with "no experience" but in reality if you're good enough you're old enough.

Gomez, Shelvey, Lookman, Konsa, Pope, Anderson, Kanu, Burstow.

He's 20 years old, so not "too young", and played 11 times for the full Jamaican international team, so has more than "no experience" but you keep banging that drum mate
  • Can guarantee that Dixon would’ve played a lot more out of desperation already if we had a Holden or Appleton still in charge.

NJ clearly has a plan for the boy that he doesn’t want to upset (hopefully the TC treatment) and I’m excited to see him in the team later this season or next.

Rather unfair on Holden I feel who, through most of his time at the club had half his squad out injured didn't he?  Remove 8 players from our current squad and I dare say Dixon would also be played by NJ out of desperation.
