    Nil Nil Draw.

Followed by the Welsh warbler saying plenty of positives to take from the game  , another clean sheet blah blah blah
“Our pressing game was fantastic.  Ahadme, kept running at both centre backs all afternoon, he never once didn’t chase a ball.  Coventry and Taylor aren’t there to create, they’re there to get the ball, control the tempo of the game, so we don’t get put in too many dangerous situations, and if you’re on top of a game that’s always so tight, you’ve always got a chance.  If we keep doing these little things right, pressing, controlling the tempo, with the league being so tight this year, things could happen.

i will say one last word for Gillesphey’s long cross field balls out from the back.  Those that don’t understand the nuances in football will think that’s losing possession, but it’s actually giving ahadme that very license to press from the top, and unlock everything I’ve just shared above.  0-0 against a team that have just 3 and drawn 1 out their last 4 at a home is a massive result.  I can’t wait for Cambridge and to potentially give our fans a goal.  Who knows!”

Our last opportunity this month to win an away league game in December for the first time in six years.

Charlton EVS definitely seems stingy given our away record… especially in the winter months.

I think Ahadme would be better off getting heading opportunities from crosses near the byline than being a target man battling with his back to goal.
Get it wide upfield then cross it to him.

Wouldn't it be nice to see an encouraging and enjoyable watch? I suspect it will be incredibly frustrating and ugly but it would be a lovely Christmas present if it did happen.

There is only one winner for this one. Cobblers you say. No....the Addicks !

    0-2. Leaburn & TC

  • 0-0 unless the ball somehow hits Ahadme on a body part and bounces in - hopefully in their net.

Northampton right near or at the bottom of the stats for PPDA, xG for and xG against.

Fully anticipate them to let us have the ball sitting in a lower block with the aim of getting at us on transitions when our defenders either venture a centimetre over the halfway line and shit their pants, or try to play it into midfield and inevitably lose the ball because there is no one offering any options in any pockets of space.

NJ was clear how we lacked a presence in the first half against Mansfield so I guess we will see one of Leaburn or Ahadme starting alongside either Godden or Kanu. This will be the only change.

Horrible game where neither team shows much quality but a moment in the second half where we put the ball into the box with a bit of quality is enough. NJ is clearly happy with winning 1-0 (any win will do) but I think he believes that’s good enough and he’ll bang on about another clean sheet and how we should’ve got the clean sheet there last season and this shows how we’ve come a long way etc.

I don’t care who scores, I only care for the 3 points. They’re a poor team with a caretaker in charge. 3 points is a must. Get it done.

Going to go 1-0 Charlton simply because we have to win sometime.  We do need a win as we get closer to relegation and can see a tougher run of fixtures on the horizon.  Otherwise we run the risk of no longer looking over our shoulders at those behind us as they will catch up!

Would everyone be happy if we see the best version of us? Or is the problem that that is not good enough.
i think that is the problem - our squad isn't good enough. If Jones knows that and needs a couple of windows to correct it, i can see the argument for him to be given time. If he thinks he can turn this lot into a promotion team, then i think we're wasting our time with him.

This fixture always reminds me of when watching the match in Belgium…and we lost! But I think this match will be an end to end stuff with zero goals scored for either side, and NJ blaming the weather/pitch conditions etc.

I forsee a draw today, 1-1 and then Nath doing his best to spin it as a positive, probably something about a stonewall penalty for us in there as we allegedly have one every week

Not expecting a win today more than likely another 0-0 unless someone makes a cockup in defence for either side. More post match bollox about clean sheets and various excuses spouted off in an attempt to justify where we are at.

unless NJ has had a change of heart and allows the team to try and play football if so we win 2-0

A bit hard to generate much enthusiasm for this one, although I'm feeling bold and am going to plump for a drab 1-1, as opposed to an even drabber 0-0. I hope that, come 5:00pm, we're not reflecting upon another low quality game between two poor sides but I fear we will.
  • 0-2 away win , clean sheet, more energetic performance and the start of a more front footed Charlton.

End-to-end as in exciting counter-attacking play, or as in long hoofball by both teams?

We are all surprised when Chuks comes on from the bench at 70 minutes and gets the winner...
  • 0-6 The Addicks run them off the park

I note Taylor and Kanu can have slightly iffy games and be left out altogether , whereas others can stink the place out for weeks and stay in .

Looks like it’s Small at RWB, don’t see that helping us add width going forward.

Suspect they may have the sickness bug mentioned above

Would expect TC or Docherty to drift wider
  • Finally taking Anderson out of the starting lineup.  It will be good to play 11 v 11 instead of 12 v 10 again
