January Transfer Window (rumours + actuals)

I think it is always best to underplay your hand and your intentions. We have to wait and see and judge at the end of the window.golfaddick said:I'm sure back in August iwhen some of us stated that our transfer dealings were a bit short we were told to wait to see where we were at xmas & that we could always strengthen in January.
Now January is here we get told that the January window isn't the best time to be signing players & its more of the case of getting rid of dead wood.
Same old same old as usual. Teams around us who are serious about promotion are strengthening whilst once again we miss out on players that are better than what we have.
Said it before.....play offs are a pipe dream with this squad. A 10th place finish is about the best we'll do I'm afraid.1 -

When were Wycombe linked with Leaburn? No chance that happens.SoundAsa£ said:
Comes to something when Wycombe “fucking” Wanderers were allegedly sniffing around Leaburn recently…..though might have been agent talk.dmccart32 said:NabySarr said:
Huddersfield received a £6m transfer fee this summer. I’m sure if we sold Leaburn for that kind of money we would see a good chunk of it reinvested, as we have with other players sold. Similarly Bolton have bought Randall and sold Charlesdmccart32 said:Now I know its maybe not that simple to move players on and bring new faces in, but if we are perceived to be one of the "bigger" clubs in L1, why are we not competing for at least one of the following:
Dion Charles [Bolton Wanderers - Huddersfield] Undisclosed
Joe Taylor [Luton - Huddersfield] Undisclosed
Joel Randall [Peterborough - Bolton] Undisclosed
All would add value to our squad at the expense of a couple of others.
For me Joe Taylor would have added pace...which other than TC we don't have!
Randall would have been that 10 who adds creativity...which we don't have
Ok granted Charles might not have been a great upgrade on what we already have.
Not sure it is realistic to expect us to spend that kind of money without selling players first, only Birmingham are doing that and their budget is obviously ridiculous
I hear you and I know its wishful thinking.
Frustrating that its got to this where clubs who we are on a peer level with are able/willing to make these deal0 -
Shame as he showed early promise. I remember watching a preseason video of the squad doing their bleep tests, out in the grass. After everyone had bailed out on the sunny day, the two left standing, or running, were Ajose and a total legend.CAFCDAZ said:
when we shipped him off on loan to Mansfield, we inserted a clause to stop a recall or them sending him back, after a couple of months they realised why!blackpool72 said:

i was told by several of the previous SMT, he was the worst professional they had ever dealt with, so yep big yes.redbuttle said:What about Nicky Ajose

I agree. You could have written the script for the season back in August. There will always be a reason why we couldn't compete for better players in the summer and then again in the January window. The bottom line is we don't or cannot compete and our end of season league placing before the season started was entirely predictable, as it is now. I find the best way is not to get overly fussed about it.golfaddick said:I'm sure back in August iwhen some of us stated that our transfer dealings were a bit short we were told to wait to see where we were at xmas & that we could always strengthen in January.

Nathan make your mind up.Redhenry said:
The only wide players NJ wants are Wing backs, how many times...supaclive said:The cup gone. Focus on the League.
New centre half left sided
Wide player
Attacking midfielder
Get rid of Nathan's unwanteds
Pronto
I think we need a good goalkeeper, it would improve our performances and points total IMHOWe are good enough OR not.
So simple. No more excuses.0 -

Nothing really new but at the end of NJs press conference ahead of Rotherham he talked about wanting to add quality to the starting 11, and not add numbers to the squad.8

Have been told this evening that Edun is off to Posh.30

We need 3 new decent additions if we want to get into the play offs. What we have is not strong enough and injuries like earlier in the season will ruin us.0

Right if Peterborough want him, we should keep himButtleJR said:Have been told this evening that Edun is off to Posh.20 -

Sparkes is "one of the worst players" they've ever had according to a few at work lol.MarcusH26 said:ButtleJR said:Have been told this evening that Edun is off to Posh.
Would be an interesting one , they signed Rio Adebasi from Crewe and Jack Sparkes from Pompey in the summer as left backs. Adebasi has been injured though.1 -

Yeah struck me as a bit of a panic " who can we get in now our first choice is injured " signing. Was surprised when Pompey signed him in the first place.
So I'd assume they want Edun as a fullback on that basis.0 -
Edun gone, confirmed1

NJ said today we'd only sign someone who would significantly improve us. That's probably beyond our budget but we'll see.golfaddick said:I'm sure back in August iwhen some of us stated that our transfer dealings were a bit short we were told to wait to see where we were at xmas & that we could always strengthen in January.
