Alternatively, RD would have had to deal with an administrator and we wouldn’t be stuck with the current lease on The Valley. Who knows?AndyG said:
Yes he made stupid decisions and was totally out of his depth mate but honestly without his actions re dealing with the crooks I seriously doubt we would have a club nowJohnnyH2 said:

All those board members should have agreed those questions in advance, otherwise they are just as bad as the individual putting them out to a live audiencePragueAddick said:
The thing that triggered me (and I'm sorry to be confrontational about it) is that you've been saying for 10 years or more that it's useless and implying that it's because of the people who get elected, (despite the many changes of personnel in that time), but you don't ever say what it should be doing or doing better. You once told me you're a member so it's your absolute right to have your say, but you have to say what your problem is. If you have a shit meal in a restaurant and want a refund, they'll at least want you to explain what exactly was shit about it- in fact, they'd actively want to know, if they are half decent..shirty5 said:
Ok then Prague. If I stand for election and then I get in, but would it then go any further if the other 5 trust board members voted against in whatever I said or put forward.PragueAddick said:
Name one that is run significantly better, and how exactly.shirty5 said:
Nothing wrong with the concept of a Supporters Trust. Every club should have one, but its how its run is importantfenaddick said:
Of course anyone who wants to change the trust could stand for election on the board, doesn’t seem to happen people just pile on. I haven’t been able to watch tonight and I’m sure the criticism is valid but if people want to change something they have the option toredbuttle said:
Brilliant. They should be running the supporters Trust as well.blackpool72 said:

Waste of my time but it does not stop me or anyone else having their opinion.Maybe if if I had 2/3 likeminded people alongside me. Maybe it will change with the people voted onto the advisory board
The most difficult thing about a Supporters Trust is that it's got to look and sound like an organisation that the Club ownership thinks is worth talking with. Otherwise it really is useless. I agree with the criticisms of Heather's questions on Thursday, but she's done some brilliant work that doesn't get much talked about on CL, and I think she misread how that meeting format would pan out. It was designed to filter and neutralise all the questions, like one of those crap footie phone ins.

He paid dubious characters 1.5m (and £600k for the Womans Team to someone of good character) to take charge.AndyG said:

He then set up a ludicrous lease deal with RD that is causing us nothing but worries now
The crooks would have soon been found out by various authorities, we would have been picked up with a more likely better deal from RD for the ground. We would probably have been in League 2 but we would have had a better all round chance of re building.
He was totally up himself, never listed to any advice and treated good club people shabbily.
All these people who so used to tell the rest of us how TS so got our club I have one question. Do you think he ever comes to The Valley, watches a stream or even gives the club a seconds thought these days?6 -
You honestly think the club would be better off now if it had gone into administration? I don’t believe that for one second. You are too switched on to think that I feel. As I said TS messed up greatly but we still owe him a vote of thanks imo. It’s easy to forget what was going on back then and we should be careful we don’t end up somewhere similarAirman Brown said:

It’s unknowable, but the three years of Thomas Sandgaard were a complete waste of time and money.AndyG said:

As was Tony Jimenez. It’s the same story over and over again, with different characters.valleynick66 said:

I agree he did save the club and should be acknowledged.....he was a bit naive coming in and quickly realised how much money he was losing and it was unsustainable.....think his heart was in the right place.......JohnnyH2 said:

Yes, that is a reasonable comment, which as a member you could challenge. Doesn't answer my question though. But I appreciate my question is really about what a Supporters Trust is for, and that's not a topic for this thread. Although I'm always up for it.shirty5 said:

A couple of small points which add a bit of clarity.
We had two guest speakers in the 1905 Lounge yesterday; one was Gavin Carter - presumably after his stint in the Vista Lounge.
Gavin said that our budget was probably 5th highest in the league. One club declined to join in with the benchmarking exercise. (So their figures for the current season are unknown. I assume it was one of the bigger names.) He also suggested that they may be looking at the possibility of expanding Valley Express next season. And he said the floodlights meet criteria.
No one asked him about the Olympic-sized swimming pool in the West Stand Car park. But that could bring in a few quid as long as people don't mind swimming around sunken cars.
The other guest was Sam Sodje (recently appointed to the Delta State Sports Commission in Nigeria).

Does that budget include SMT remuneration or are we taking pure player costs?cafcfan said:A couple of small points which add a bit of clarity.
