There has to be a problem when UK households pick up the tab in the region of £3b per year to pay suppliers of electricity to the national grid not to produce electricity during high winds as the grid cannot cope with the excess supplies. One can only hope the proposed Great British Energy will be able to address ti's problem but I won't hold my breath.
This is where batteries (solid state ideally) come in. During periods of excess supply there will be incentives to charge batteries which have the capacity to store a few weeks or more power for a household. Connected localised grids of batteries will help us smooth out peaks and troughs in supply.
I believe that 3 such battery storage store sites are proposed around London. and are awaiting planning permission all are on greenbelt land and are being proposed by different private companies, I would have thought that the national grid should be building them, as we all know what happens when profit comes first (ie water companies). One is in Dartford area near Southfleet, planning application was submitted last week.
  • Indeed QA ..wont quote you due to the space taking up. But the individuals behaviour is getting tiresome as it crosses lots of threads with little or no intellect views offered apart from.abusing posters they dont agree with.

As for today..poor but a win is a win is a win

You can be our best man mate... Xx still we both know whether a woman has a fiddly stick unlike your industrious leader.
  • Last year, extreme climate events such as heatwaves, cyclones, storms, floods, and droughts disrupted the education of at least 242 million students across 85 countries, according to a UNICEF report.

The most affected countries included Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Mozambique, Pakistan and the Philippines.

Heatwaves were the predominant climate hazard shuttering schools last year, as the earth recorded its hottest year ever. More than 118 million children had their schooling interrupted in April alone, as large parts of the Middle East and Asia experienced a sizzling weeks-long heatwave with temperatures soaring above 40C.

UNICEF emphasised that children are particularly vulnerable to weather-related crises due to their physical sensitivity to heat and difficulty accessing schools under extreme conditions. The report highlighted the urgent need for education systems to adapt to these climatic challenges, as many schools were destroyed, especially in the poorest regions, further hindering access to education.

A bit of "whataboutery", but does UNICEF have an equivalent disruption measure for religious dogma?

    denialism; controversial; Trump; ExxonMobil and wealthy Republican donors;
anti-climate action; rightwing factions; far-right; climate deniers; "cult-like” alliance; far-right parties; climate denialism; far-right politicians; far-right.

Or put more succinctly: Climate 'Emergency' sceptic=fascist, because they have alternative views to the pietistic majority.

But you’ll of course agree that the vast majority of climate deniers are right wing ? Why’s that do you think ?

Big difference between having alternative views and not telling the truth as evidenced by the science.
  • Unfortunately the battle against Climate Change has become political, it shouldn't be that way as ultimately we are all affected. Unfortunately those who are poorer will be affected disproportionately. Those who make the most money out of the causes of man made climate change, want to hang onto their money at the expense of others.

The events of the last couple of weeks have been a huge set back for the fight against man made climate change.

    Spot on Chippy.
The adult's back in charge mate and the world is rejoicing and suddenly full of optimism once again.
    Everywhere except CL🤣🤣

He won't forget the childishness and lies of UK Labour or "The Guardian", the "BBC" and all the other propagandists of  course, but he's not afraid of forging or repairing relationships in order to obtain a beneficial outcome, whether that be with old Two Tier Keir, or even Vladimir Putin.

He wrote "The Art of the Deal" and knows how to get what he wants.
Once he gets it, old Two Tier will be out on his arse, where he belongs.
Good to see Nige and Reform now leading in the latest poll BTW, exciting times ahead.

Oh, and the CIA have finally admitted (strange that) that COVID most likely DID come out of the Wuhan Lab after all.

So yet more lies, deception and cover-ups by the Media and the previous adminstration, finally exposed.
What a difference a week makes.

  • Whilst it is off topic, an earlier comment by a poster shows just how twisted the truth can become, so I think it deserves to be fact checked.

The CIA has said that the SARS Cov-2 outbreak most likely came from a lab , however it also says that it has low confidence in its own conclusion, noting in its statement both scenarios - lab and natural origin - remain plausible.

The CIA continues to assess that both research-related and natural origin scenarios of the COVID-19 pandemic remain plausible, the agency said in a statement.

The truth is we still don't know for certain whether it was lab leaked or jumped from animals to humans.

Back to the Climate Emergency, the following article from the World Resources Institute is an interesting read. The WRI's mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth's environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.

The cost of living crisis is often used as an excuse not to do anything to help the environment, but this article shows how we can best use our resources to feed everyone on the planet in a sustainable way and to reduce GHG.

So your "fact checking was a complete waste of time, because I actually stated that myself in my post.
Seriously, try reading properly before you waste your time fact checking my posts.
    Jeez!

In any event, a big change from the lies previously sold to the public about the origin.

But you carry on believing everything the left wing media spins you

Saying that something is most likely, but having low confidence that it is the most likely, is quite a contradiction.
  • Sadly I think this thread is doomed. It’s been overtaken by troll supreme and it’s leading it straight to being closed.
I hope not as it's too important a subject. I apologise for not sticking to my intention to ignore the trolling..

I think that should be directed at the CIA rather than me !

But it's gone from "Most Likely" the wet Market, to "Most Likely" the Lab, which is a big change, and it's only happened since John Radcliffe assumed the office of CIA Director ie yesterday
