  • I haven't seen 305 as i'm more interested in a grappling tournament.

Wondering what you guys think of this match? Does it have mainstream appeal?

  • UFC 306 should look amazing in this sphere this weekend. Sounds like it'll be a one off though!

I really don't rate O'Malley at all, I had Yan winning and thought the Sterling stoppage was early. Merab has looked invincible, so Sean by first round KO!

The match above is below if anyone is interested.

I feel more excited by the event than I do the actual card. I don't think it should be that way round.

I'll still be tuning in live at 3am  :D
  • Conor v Chandler is off, who saw that coming?

Chandler's next fight will be against Oliveira, who will no doubt smash him again. Conor's next battles will be against hangovers.
  • It's going to be a very long time until Merab losses that belt. With Aljo at feather it's unlikely he'll move up either.

Nothing that another line wont sort out
  • Strange card. I wonder how much better Chandler would have been if he hadn't been waiting for so long, incredible heart though and he won the fifth. I reckon the same result but not as dominating as that. Oliveira v Makhachev 2 please.
  • I think we have moved from the end of the beginning, to the beginning of the end for McGregor.

Only fighting he will be doing from now on is in a courtroom.

  • Not convinced he will ever fight in the ring again, doesn't need the money and he'd have to stop drinking and doing drugs to get back to any kind of level good enough for the UFC. January will be 5 years since his last win.

  • Unlucky Colby! 😃

In other news, I received my brown belt last month.
    Congratulations mate!

    Thanks man!
  • I know I've said before that we will never see McGregor fight again, but I reckon he does the Paul fight. Too much money for him to not take it in my opinion.

No more UFC though, would be shocked if he ever makes a return there.

The guys an absolute piece of shit as well, from everything we've been hearing for... Well the past few years to be honest but specifically the past 6 months. Absolute helmet.

I've taken up Sunday league football which means I'm not really able to stay up as much as I used to

What fights are you looking forward to in 2025? Personally I'd give a kidney to see Aspinall v Jones...
  • Good luck with the football.

Other than Aspinal v Jones not a lot jumps out in 2025. Strickland v Du Plessis should be good. There seems to be a few champions who don't look like dropping their belts, Pereira, Makhachev, Topuria, Merab etc. Expect a few of them to get beat and/or perhaps to go for a second strap in a mouthwatering superfight.

I think Topuria stops Alex again who will retire and enter the hall of fame and a commentary/analysis role.
  • Merab's the man.
  • I think we won't be seeing Bryce Mitchell again. 😳
  • I think we won't be seeing Bryce Mitchell again. 😳
Wouldn't be so sure on that.

Dana White: "That's the beautiful thing about this business, for all of you who hate Bryce Mitchell, you get to see him hopefully get his ass whooped on global television.“

White isn't stupid, he's proper laid into Mitchell and rightly so, but at the same time he knows it will probably boost viewing figures when Mitchell next fights.

As awful as what Mitchell said, I knew Dana White would react like that!
  • I don't want to see him get smashed (again). I don't want to see him again.

  • Pimblett beating Chandler, can't say I expected that.

Chandler has washed his own career waiting for McGregor. I feel bad for him.
  • Good performance from Paddy, I thought before this fight he was getting Chandler at a good time but that wasn't enough for me to put any money on it, Chandler is clearly a good fighter and as @Huskaris said he might have wasted a lot of time waiting for a fight that was never going to materialise
  • The Fighting nerds must be the best team in MMA. Great to see the dog murdering nazi getting smashed.🙂

Not sure how much McGregor has effected Chandler's career from a non-financial point of view, it's something that's going to be debated for years. He was never a real title challenger and Paddy has improved massively since his Cage Warrior days. Chandler will be remember as being a beast when he retires regardless of how his career goes from now. Tony Ferguson despite his current losing streak will be remembered for how good he once was.

Amanda Nunes is hitting at making a comeback. Could see her v Harrison this year. 😃

Tom Aspinall undisputed, Jon Jones completely swerved him.

Can anyone recall a more obvious dodge like this in recent fight history? Cause I can't. If Jon Jones legacy wasn't tainted enough through all the cheating and controversy, this has been sealed with a stamp.

Disappointed we didn't get to see the fight, as Tom Aspinall would have likely got the finish. He has been robbed of a serious scalp, and fight fans have been robbed of a very big fight.
  • Jon Jones swerved Ngannou as well. He talked up the Stipe Miocic fight to a level nobody believed and is claiming that as some sort of career defining victory.

Aspinall v Jones was the only fight at heavyweight and Jones chose not to have it. Still a great fighter Jon Jones just wish he had shat or got off the pot. Held Aspinall waiting for ages for a fight he knew was never going to happen
  • He could have beaten Stipe and retired in the Octagon post match claiming he had nothing more to achieve and he would have received his plaudits. Instead he messed Tom about. I genuinely thought his recent comments were mind games/to build up the Tom match.

Looking at the bigger picture, something isn't right with with the UFC right now.

TBF much as I love him, Bisping dodged a murderers row of middleweights after he won the title off Rockhold and fought Dan Henderson who wasn't even top 5 at the time. Think he was ranked 12 or something!
  • Talking of British middleweights and murder row. Look who Darren Till had after he KO'd Cowboy!

Properly avoided Francis. I don't blame him, it is just the bullshit that comes out of his mouth. Like saying Pereira is a more exciting match up than Aspinall as it is more career defining and Poatan has done more. I can't believe people actually believe stuff like that as anyone who follows the sport or understands it knows Aspinall was the bigger fight and a true test. I don't like Jones but he would have taken out Alex Periera quite swiftly imho, as much as I like Alex, Aspinall presented something else entirely.

How he has handled the Aspinall situation is a joke. Would have left the sport with a lot more credit if he just said he is getting old and is choosing to vacate as he feels that was the right time and the right win.

He spoke up Miocic like it was a true test but everyone knows Stipe was done after the third DC fight/the Ngannou KO. Bloke was more than halfway out of the octagon.

Who did Bisping avoid other than Romero?

I don't really view Bisping as a dodge, has fought everyone in that division more or less and tested himself. I think he would have faced Romero had he not lost to GSP.

Jones has always fought the smaller man, always had an advantage, even with DC he had every single physical advantage possible and a 9 year age advantage. The only two fights he took of a man he didn't have a significant size advantage over was Gane who isn't all that and a washed up Stipe.
