Well we are both proper, so that's good!  As opposed to not proper.

    Who is Nige?

Nigel Jones. A distant relative to Nathan Adkins

Oh yeah,  was talking to a Nige 10 minutes before posting...  i of course meant The Nath.
  • I find his post match interviews so much better now that he doesn't try to excuse crap performances.

In shocking turn of events football fan hates team and manager when they are doing poorly, but likes team and manager when they are doing well.

I honestly don't see much that has changed in the way Jones speaks, he is still hitting the same story beats (best version of yourself, building together etc), he still likes to throw stats out there, and he still likes to talk about being front footed and aggressive.

Only difference is now instead of saying it will take time, he is saying told you so that it would take time.

Agreed, they were painful “last year”.
Stuttering and stammering over excitedly, constantly wiping his nose on his hand and describing a different game to the game that everybody else watched.

He appears to live on his nerves poor chap.
Anyway, he can do whatever he wants as long as he makes a success of Charlton.

He has always had a passion and desire where others have not.

Good interview by NJ there. Almost sounded sane.

There was one bit today caught on camera where he stuck his tongue out and then flicked the end of it like you flick a subbuteo player only harder. Bloke’s an absolute fruit loop but I’m growing to love him as I learn to understand him.

    He's actually full of shit.

Says we are the best pressing team, there is no evidence of this. The table doesn't say so, the stats don't say so, our goals conceded don't say so. It's pretty much just a lie.

He also said at the end we aren't as bad as last season. Well, I've got some news Jones mate, we are. Actually, we are worse off.

Even if he meant from when he took over, that would be incomparable due to the games played, and if anything, makes his argument worse as he had preparation time to improve on this.

We are worse off in literally every aspect of the table.

In 23/24 by this stage we had scored 30 and conceded 25, and had a 5 goal difference.

This season we have scored 18 and conceded 19 and have a -1 G/D. 12 less goals scored, huge amount, and 6 goals less conceded.

    Absolute waffler.
We are now seven points better off (30 -> 37) than we were after 25 games played compared to last season, an increase of 23%.

Our goal difference has improved YoY from -2 to +5. We have conceded 13 fewer goals and kept 7 additional clean sheets.
We are now 25 (twenty-five) points better off (34 -> 59) than we were after 34 games played compared to last season, an increase of 73%.

Our goal difference has improved YoY from -5 to +15. We have conceded 21 fewer goals and kept 11 additional clean sheets.

“We're so close to being a good side"

Pull the other one fs. A good side doesn't ping diagonal long balls all game
One loss in 8 since Jones said this. Four wins in our last 6. Maybe he was right.
17 games since this press conference: won 11, drawn 4, lost 2.

Momentum is a wonderful thing and boy when you have W8  D1 L1 and are top of the form table in those 10 matches with 25 points the previews, like the post match interviews are so much calmer and enjoyable to watch from the feisty Welshman.

Chalk & cheese in terms of how relaxed he is in these interviews now compared to earlier in the season. He is exuding confidence in a really good way like he knows we are in a good place. For the first time in years I really can’t see us losing many games for the rest of the season

No surprise he’s more relaxed - 3 months ago his career was looking on the line, now he’s back on top - really pleased for him - give me a heart on the sleeve man any day of the week

No point in having an attacking structure if you need to score 2/3 goals to win a game - don’t tell Golfie that.

It can’t be that hard to score 92 to 138 league goals a season, can it?
