They’ve been here for 2 years now and talk a lot about fan engagement but this just proves they know absolutely fuck all about the fanbase
So they should just give up on a highly viable revenue stream because fans don’t like it? Jones would have been sacked if fans got what they wanted…
Yes, or at the very least consult and/or explain the decision to fans. They say fan engagement is one of their top priorities and things they’ve improved

Consult on what? What decisions have been made? All it seems they have done is opened up the possibility.

If (big if) there is some interest that has meaningful money behind it then that is the time to engage.

Do well to find someone stupid enough to pay for naming rights but the name won’t change from the valley. Has Andy Scott left football and got a new job in the business world yet?
  • "The Cadbury Chocolate Valley"

    Yeah, gets my vote
  • Money talks, mm-hmm, money talks
Dirty cash, I want you, dirty cash, I need you, oh

  • I guess we use the revenue to increase the playing budget, which could be a good thing, part 2 of what CM was talking about, a while back.

    Disagree @bobmunro

No point consulting with fans after the deal is done or nearly done as the terms and conditions will be largely agreed and the club won't want to listen to fans if they have a major sponsor in their sights.

What the Commercial Manager, Barry Higson, has said is fine by me IE it will always be the Acme Valley rather than the Acme Stadium.  I'm never going to use that name anyway while accepting that the club needs to increase income.

I also think that the chances of it actually happening are pretty remote, given it didn't happen when we were in the Prem or Championship.

PS  How about this company as a sponsor

Old Antique Toys The Chad Valley Co Ltd Toy Company

I believe that the East Stand (now called the Alan Curbishley Stand) was at one time, when we were in the Premier League, sponsored by McDonald's and was supposed to be called something like "The MacDonald's Family Stand".

It never caught on, and everybody just carried on calling it "the East Stand"...
  • the Yeo Valley.

seriously though it will always me the valley.

it really highlights the fact that arsenal and city have sold their soul, the etihad, the Emirates . how untreated soulless, nit even a company with local links, but I suppose those stadiums have no discernable name or history. The pound land at Walsall is preferable

  • The Valley of Dreams....
  •                          The Greggs Valley
                        It’s how we roll, sausage!
  • While in division 1 maybe we could go for The Valley Cafe Valley

How does everyone feel about them selling naming rights to the Valley? Seems like they might be trying to do that unless I have misread the brochure
A far as I understand it 'stadium branding' doesn't have to include renaming the stadium.
From what I understand it is stadium banners, wayfinding, or internal signage for changing rooms and media areas.

Though it is pretty interesting they could (rename the stadium) do this when they do not own it outright. 😕

I am sure the Trust will listen and nod their heads.

Don’t be ridiculous, clearly no fan wants The Valley totally rebranded/renamed

    But

fans also want better players, promotions and success- which comes at a cost.
consultation is really the only way fans are going to get what they want- or at least have a few small victories
  • Yeah, let's sell the stadium naming rights. Anything for a bit of cash, right?

At the same time we can also put our battys up for rent and put our female folk on the game. Anything for a bit of cash, right?

The brochure released by the club specifically refers to “naming rights”, which presumably does involve renaming the stadium.
  • How much is the yearly cost of rent?
Pretty good idea to generate a multi year revenue stream from an asset we don’t own, to at least cover the costs of its usage.

This would be a fraction of the rent, never mind the operating cost. It won’t even pay Charlie’s salary.

The Valley was £500k in 2020 under the lease variation signed by Sandgaard. There is quite a complicated rent review procedure which will increase that, but the total rent liability of the club in 2023/24 was a bit shy of £600k. This will include Sparrows Lane.
