Isolator switches for electrical appliances

Hi guys and gals, just a quick question

having under counter fridge/freezer and integrated tumble dryer fitted soon
Do they need isolator switches installed or is that more for the heavy using appliances such as ovens, extractor fans etc ?

thanks

  • I believe it is good practice to fit isolator switches above counter top for FF, WM and DW, but it is not a regulation. In terms of FF, make sure you can turn it off from an accessible switch inside the unit for defrosting purposes.

That said, I have above counter top isolators for all our integrated appliances.

  • I have always gone by the addage, if it has a fitted plug you can just plug it in.
  • Ampage you mean Muttley? Same here. Electrician installed my new electric oven and hob on the main ring as they needed extra oomph. The little fridge freezer plugs in from behind a drawer (not accessible!), and wash machine also from a plug I will have to find one day.
