A good trip @InspectorSands, although I'll pass on the park run ..... I thought the air raid shelters looked quite interesting and I also wouldn't have minded a quick look in the Hat Museum (especially as it's free) but was overruled on that one. I thought that Stockport had a nice vibe generally and I was well impressed by the railway viaduct - 13 million bricks and a great feat of engineering back in 1840.
As you say, some great pubs and a chance to sample some milds and porters which are less common at home. I took a few photos on our travels, including of Ye Olde Vic, the Viaduct and the art deco Plaza.
A lot of results went our way today but with Wrexham winning & Wycombe get a late point I think top 2 is just a step too far.
We need to consolidate our position by picking up points against Crawley & Wigan and then not lose to Huddersfield. I notice that they aren't playing in the International weekend so it would help us if we didnt either. Get to the start of April with another 5 or 7 points and see what everyone around us have done.
I think Barnsley & Orient are out of it, but think Bolton are going to be our major threat. Need to get to 78 points....maybe even 80.
I agree that second is out of reach at the moment. Wycombe and Wrexham have to play each other soon and we have to go to both, there’s still a chance, although slim!!
this is as good a post match interview as i've seen from an opposition manager all season, and gives a really good insight as to why Stockport are so good/effective at this level.
Really interesting interview but he seems to give away one huge tactical mistake there.
He talks about how they thought their main attacking threat would be their RB because TC doesn’t track and Small does so the LB would be effective. Seems like DC got caught into thinking it was the straight 4231 instead of being a 352 when out of possession so hand banked on Edwards and Gillesphey being able to work together on their RB when needed.
He talked a lot about how he changed their usual plan to counter how we play (a big compliment in my opinion) but that’s a pretty big mistake to make.
Just listened to it, he did talk about TC not having responsibility so we can set him free when we have the ball, and our shape changing which is similar to what they do, so I think he was aware but talking about Small tracking back it didn’t initially sound that way.
Thought it was interesting he spoke about strikers not winning fouls. Talked about our 16 (Edwards) handling their player, so they did the same with Leaburn leading to our bench not being happy. Easy to blame Leaburn for being ineffective, but the ref was lenient with defenders, whoever we had up front would have found it difficult to deal with that.
He did but sounded like he didn’t have a full grip on why TC doesn’t have the defensive responsibility and why attacking down our left isn’t an opening
Having Ramsay and Small lining up side by side can be a tricky proposition for opposing teams, especially at this level. We found it by chance and it has sprung a surprise in the oppositions planning/execution.
Their small pitch helped them (width and length). It felt small when some of Mannion's kicks would reach the opposition goalie!
Still a bit peeved their player was allowed to mildly strangle Karoy for about 10 seconds without a warning from the ref.
I rarely watch us on CharltonTV and today showed me why.
A nervous 97mins with little quality from either side but we restricted them to few chances and came away with a valuable point.
Doing that when you haven't played well is key to success but I hope it was just an off day for Small and Campbell although it was clear County saw them as our key men and set up to stop them.
Hope Jones is fit for the rest of the season.
Too often our keepers have been marked down on the basis they "had nothing to do" but today Mannion did what was need in difficult windy conditions. He and Gillesphy were men of the match.
7 points out of 9 with two difficult away games is far from shabby and we know we can play better.
Get some revenge over Crawley on Tuesday and we are well set for the run in.
Unless the away end had its own weather system, there was zero wind
There definitely was, from the away end down towards the home end. It resulted in a lot of overhit crosses and long balls, especially second half. A few times Mannion took goal kicks that got caught in a gust and held up near the half way line.
We must have been protected from the wind by the world’s largest scoreboard directly behind the away end. Could have done with some breeze!
A real battle which we stood up to and the draw was just about deserved thanks to our excellent defensive display. Their physicality meant that Small and Campbell couldn’t get into the game and thereby blunted our cutting edge. Thought the two Stockport strikers were impressive and I hate to say it but both looked better than Myles.
Watching the Pompey V Leeds match at the moment and if we do manage to get promotion this season the championship looks a big step up in quality
My son was in with our lot and and his County mates in the Cheadle End. When they met up for a pint after the game, his mates were commenting how the strong wind blowing towards them had not helped the match. My son said he never felt the wind once and had never realised how strong it was. You only had to look at the flags behind the away end on the tele to see how hard the wind was blowing.

Not just that but the ref had the temerity to have a word with Karoy for objecting to the strangulation !
Absolutely awful game of football, but that will happen when you play your mirror selves. Stockport are organised, have good, strong centre backs, intelligent midfield schemers and full backs who provide chances for attackers who come narrow. Exactly like us, which meant we cancelled each other out. Our three centre backs were immense, Coventry did his usual and Edwards worked hard. All standard. Small was poor, Leaburn moreso and Docherty won the ball well but was very cowardly with his distribution. Mannion was very good. Other than that I hate how I spent my Saturday afternoon and we shouldn't be allowed to play Stockport again legally. If we get each other in the Play-offs we should both be eliminated for moral reasons.
First vlog in a few months, no Fred (camera cousin) and tbh, I was feeling quite anxious. Not that that's a cry for help or anything, just explaining some of the cuts and why it may not feel too engaging compared to some better vlogs. But I wanted to get the ball rolling again. Think it's because it's been a a few months I was feeling a bit unsure.
Anyway, here it is, I'll be doing them again now for the rest of the season, life just got in the way a tad.

A step too far? It's 8 steps - and we can make 3 of them on Tuesday.

Enjoyed that mate - loved the old blokes sat on the wall - turgid game of football, but everyone you spoke with called it right - tight game - personally, the atmosphere element (for us) was hampered by an open away end
Lovely weather though !!!
Great away day yesterday, interrupted by 90’ish minutes of rubbish football
On to Crawley - I’m there with my best mate on Tuesday - beat them, well what a run of results since Brum away …….
Having seen the photos of the Stockport railway viaduct, a few important facts for those railway Addicks. The first is that it is the biggest brick structure in Europe, as stated, with 13 million bricks. Second, and more interesting, is that every train that passes though Stockport has to stop. This is because the local council, who paid for the viaduct, stipulated in the legistation, that if they built the viaduct, to bring more money into Stockport, then every train has to stop at the station, to allow passengers to revel in the delights of Stockport!
