Whatever he has done behind the scenes, still losing roughly the same amount a year which the owners have to fund. Was this what the owners were promised 2 seasons ago?
Every owner outside the premier league has to be funded by it's owners... I would say he hasn't been sacked, and the owners haven't pushed..

Can't help that think some are overthinking this, came in, done a job and onto the next venture. We're in the best position we've been in years behind the scenes and possibly the most stable we've been for a very long time too, onto whatever happens next and hopefully a continuation of this growth.
More to it than this I think. He (presumably) is still a part owner so he’s a) not fully gone and b) can’t work in football anywhere. No coincidence in my opinion that a few months after Carter gets more hands on that both Scott and Methven are gone and there are rumours Rodwell will be too.
Methven clearly sold the big money men an unrealistic dream and they’ve worked it out

I like most on here have no clue what has brought this change on and I doubt we ever will however the club is definitely going through a transition stage hopefully the right replacement comes in and we continue moving forward
I seem to remember a post on one of the threads a couple of weeks ago that suggested that exciting things are happening within the club (I assumed it wasn't the playing side). Could this be the beginning of bigger changes re the ownership?.
Quite surprised but my guess would be that he over sold the club to the investors and over promised on cost cutting, revenue improvements and how much they would need to support the club financially. He has always claimed credit for introducing the investors and it's come back to bite him.

This is absolutely my own theory as well but it's purely speculative by me. Seems to fit most of what we do know.
I guess the question is now if/when Rodwell does depart too who is actually running things day to day going forward.

I don't think it's anymore complicated than this to be honest. Job done time to move on
It's wishful thinking I know but shouldn't the club be deep into pre-negotiations with players for next season wherever we may be ? Not having a CEO is likely to be unhelpful.

That's what i was thinking. He must have been bought out. it's what he does...
If he has that might be good news as it would mean one or all of our major shareholders are buying up the minority ones pointing to them thinking it’s a good investment
I can understand why the oversold dream theory is a popular explanation, but it doesn't explain the timing, unless that's only just become apparent to the owners, which I find harder to believe as they will have been well aware of the financials before now.
Reckon he's gone with mutual consent after a falling out, and either he get's to keep his share with no say, or they've agreed to give him a bit on top. All will no doubt become clear re' the last bit, over the next few weeks
He hasn’t done his podcast for a number of weeks now and I was beginning to wonder if something was up
I had a look at that too, it was weekly most of the time and the last one was late January, a few days before the window closed. Perhaps this process kicked off after the window - Scott left mid February. I would guess is won’t be the last departure.
For me, the clearest indicator he was pushed rather than jumped, is in that statement.
Methven said: "It has been an immense honour to serve this wonderful club. This time last year, when things were not progressing fast enough for all our liking, I agreed to move to south-east London and put my shoulder to the wheel, though it had never been my intention to take an executive role."
If he has jumped, the move to South East London has turned out to be a disaster. Unless he's already signed up to be involved with Millwall or (at a pinch) Gillingham...

Supposedly his reason for going now (With the club now on an upwards trajectory) was to 'pack my tent and give the owners and Board the necessary time to appoint a replacement in time to prepare for next season.
With no insight or inside info whatsoever I'd put money on him jumping before he was pushed. Very few execs around these days, particularly in sport, who would put the wellbeing of their organisation over and above their personal circumstances.

You are correct all teams need to be funded, but if the owners are having to find 3 times the amount they expected/told they needed, maybe that is where the problem is
Would Some sort of companies office digital paperwork need to be done if a shareholder divested his shares? If so someone cleverer than me can look it up …

I would prefer to think it is because he wants to devote more time to his first football love.

This outcome suits all parties.
