I wonder if he has sold his shareholding ?
That's what i was thinking. He must have been bought out. it's what he does...
If he has that might be good news as it would mean one or all of our major shareholders are buying up the minority ones pointing to them thinking it’s a good investment
Or maybe they are looking to sell up ? Buying out all the minority owners would make it easier ? I'm probably less in the know than Ronnie so it's just a thought.

Charlie Methven went to Eton and as well as giving a person a ready made network, it also gave the likes of Johnson and Cameron kudos and especially Charlie a moniker of being all mouth and Salmon trousers.
Supreme confidence and belief that they had the Midas touch. The 2 ex Prime Ministers were in the Bullingdon club whereas Methven was in the Railway spotters Eton club and it was his destiny to stop at Charlton Station for a short stay.

Charlie was once the 'Father of the Chapel' (shop steward)at the telegraph and within the NUJ with him in charge voted to strike. This man could be a clone of Airman Brown. 🙄 Eton and Chis and Sid Grammar were very similar.

When Methven was a journalist he worked for the sporting life so eventually started his own racing and gambling paper called 'The Sportsman'. Despite 20k daily sales the paper folded and were turned into paper planes.

Middle man and Public relations man who realized  that the smoke and mirrors world of sport paid more than being a journalist.

Interesting character who is now going to 'Mount Pleasant' to rescue the Royal Mail 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe it's because he didn't want to stump up 5% (his equivalent shareholding) of this season's losses, so has jumped ship now. If we lose c£10m as expected, that's half a million quid he would need to cough up and I don't think Charlie boy has that sort of cash to flunk off each year...
I'm not sure that's quite how shareholding works...

Good. I find some of the comments on here hilarious, with people desperate to believe whatever nonsense the club puts out, but never mind.
Shock / Horror - The first sign of something slightly out of the ordinary and Airman pipes up with his giant wooden spoon.

    Predictable
Don’t worry. There’s bound to be someone new for you to boost on here soon.
I hardly boost him.  I gave him a really hard time when he first got here but he proved he had a plan and has largely executed it.  Surely even you can see that we are in a better position than we have been for a while.

And similarly ,I'm sure his replacement will be treated with contempt by you because you fucking hate it when this club does anything right.
Wonder if Peter Varney and the huge investors are still knocking around!

Unfortunately they may go 4 miles down the road now after the knock back from the owner of the stadium in the past.

The club has done so little right in the last decade or so it would be hard for you to know, even if you had the insight.

I could see who Jimenez/Slater, Duchatelet, Southall, Sandgaard and Methven were. It doesn’t require any inside information, just dropping the blinkers. Plenty of cheerleaders for all of them until there weren’t.

My hope with this ownership was that they would get rid of this management team as soon as possible, so I am very happy with Scott and Methven going and I give them full credit for that.

From what’s been said the operating loss is pretty much unchanged and at the current time we’re still in League One. The football has been much better since December certainly. We really need to get back to the Championship and tbh that’s all that matters.

That list of previous owners makes me shudder !! Although I have said before I think you fail to give TS a bit of credit. Yes it all went Pete Tong but I honestly believe he saved the club nobody else would have been crazy enough during Covid to step up and fight off the out and out crooks that owned us at that time without him doing that I doubt very much if we would have a club playing at the valley now.
in terms of the current ownership and SMT apart from appointing Appleton I don’t see much they have done wrong since they came in. I make my judgement on what I have seen not on rumours or spin
Well, between them they achieved the lowest finish in 98 years, so let’s hope they can now counter balance it. I suspect people would have different views today if we were tenth instead of fifth, even though it’s hardly credible to argue that Methven is the difference.

Not much point in arguing about the counter factual in 2020. We did survive but he was also clearly not the person to run the club.

  • As many have said, we are in a better position now than we have been for a very long time. First time it has properly felt stable.

He is a character for sure but has helped with the above it seems. Good luck to the bloke!
  • Methven isn’t involved in the footballing side of things, us doing well in the league this season has nothing to do with him. Are we in a better place off the pitch? Outside a couple of embarrassing stunts we possibly are, but again a lot of that probably comes down to the fact we are now doing well on the pitch which often translates to the off the pitch numbers
  • If he really is staying until the end of the season it seems a little odd to announce it now when all interest is on the team (for a change).

    All a little strange.
Perhaps but if they run an open recruitment process then it would come out that we are looking for a new CEO before the club announced that CM is leaving which would cause more consternation.
  • When this ownership took control, I thought the set up looked cumbersome and feared it might prove sub optimal. It wasn't working, and changes have been, and are still being made, to remedy that, which I welcome and  I hope the progress evident on the pitch is reflective of more coherent boardroom functionality.
  • Like him or loathe him it's undeniable we're in a much better position on and off the pitch since he joined.

All i'd hope for now is that the club make a sensible appointment as his replacement.
