In here wishing I was in Edgeley having a post match beer. Stockport is one of the better places to go for a drink.
This is a typical place for liquid refreshments. Spirits galore, bottled lagers, nothing on tap. As for an IPA or other you can forget it.
The booze is very cheap though, a lager on average is £2.50 for a 600ml bottle.0 -

Wait? What? Where’s the London Dungeon now then? Don’t tell me it’s no longer? 😫0

The Raglan has had a coat of paint on the outside now and looks like there may be a new life ahead for that one? Hopefully as I could do with a decent pit stop walking up Burrage Road.2

Could be fun tomorrow, unless a miracle happens the Anchor is now shut.0

sad the Anchor and Hope closed, lets hope not many Wigan fans coming down. As it had become more of an away fans pub the last couple of seasons.0

it is becoming a desert around the ground for pubs today, just remember the choices we had when the club moved back to the Valley.1

I’d say it’s been best off going to Greenwich/maze hill for a pre match pint for a while now. Anchor and hope was only good for a good weather drink as too far out the way. Although hope it opens again soon.

My post match beer today after the 8k gate goes down.
7000 mles away I can see the same poor pub options.0 -
When you count it up Charlton really has lost a lot of its watering holes. It’s sad.Had been planning the Anchor post match yesterday so ended up in the Bugle.. apart from just having one person behind the bar post match for about half an hour it wasn’t too bad in there.I often wonder if we had stayed in the Prem would some of them have survived?2

Horse and Groom went just after relegation from the Prem and I'm not sure it had anything other than a pre-match crowd, maybe it might have clung on a bit longer to become flats rather than a church. And if you go towards Greenwich that whole long line of snuffed out/knocked down pubs continues, mostly unmourned (the Old Friends, anyone?).
The exception to all this is probably the White Swan - saddled with an unrealistic rent - but even that struggled some nights. I'm sorry to hear of the Anchor's guv'nor and hope it re-opens soon, the place is a real treasure.
On the upside, we've gained the River Ale House and Green Goddess, which are great places all week, and not just matchdays.

I'm sure the Anti would have survived if we had stayed in the prem

Even Wetherspoons going through difficult times. Half year profits down along with share price. Sir Tim blaming staffing and utility costs.1
