A bit devastated by the loss of that clean sheet but otherwise good. We should have added a third and it's a shame we didn't so we could give Ahadme and Enslin some minutes at the end. Still, can't complain at another 3 points against a team who have just had a new manager join who they will have wanted to impress. Good to see Tennai back and playing well, everyone looks better in the current setup. If the Wycombe v Wrexham game ever ends and stays the same then this will have been an incredible day. We've got some tough games now; Peterborough are a different team, Huddersfield went from not scoring a home goal in 2025 to scoring 5 in one game and we never really seem to beat Lincoln. 3 potential banana skins in the next 4 to maneuver so it's good that we got what we needed today.
I’d be hoping for 5 or more points to keep up a push for second, but 4 points from the next three games wouldn’t be too shabby in the context of making sure we qualify for the playoffs. I think it’s important we keep our feet on the ground in terms of what is a good ambition to hope for vs. what it’s realistic to expect we will achieve.

Must be the highest for ages. We had to park in Herringham Road. Been many years since we had to do that.

We were so much on top in the whole game, however we were also a bit guilty of some sloppy play late on, which is something I am sure Nathan is drumming into them at this very moment.
Couldn't give a flyin' fu*k about those two currently above us whoever they are, we're going up in second place, it's written I tell ya, next to the sword is Peterborough next Saturday..COYR

Great win. Jones and Coventry yet again the centrepiece and strength of the team. Missed Josh Edwards because Ramsey could not be there to defend the goal which came from the right side. Real momentum continues to grow. Exciting times. Hope Josh is not out for too long. May be better next time for Mitchell to start instead of Watson. Oh, and Godden is far and away our best striker.

Take a win any way they come at this stage of the season. Played very well for the most part.

    2nd is within reach.
    UTA!

Been like it all season.  Can't score more than 2 goals in a game & soon that will bite us on the bum. I now expect us to make the play offs but we wont get 2nd.

But I dont want to detail this thread with negativity so I'll leave it to others to bask in another win.
You are insufferable. What is actually wrong with you?

We were a class apart for much of the game. I don't quite know how we didn't get a third but we didn't and out of the blue they pulled one back. After that we defended well when I think previous Charlton sides would have let another in. I am feeling very positive about that. We march on and if we keep it going, we are going to get that second place.

Not bothered by Wrexham winning, we have methodically overhauled every rival for promotion one at a time, the idea of passing Wycombe and Wrexham at the same time feels greedy.  One rung at a time.

Shame the top rung is almost beyond reach.

Herminator, have you noticed that his posts have now bereft of any mention of Alfie May, the player who is now being out-scored by his replacement. Golfie must sit there, desperate to find the negative, he spent most of the first 15 games declaring he undeniably right, he should know better, Football can be a fickle mistress.
He has a genuinely impressive ability to move on from an absolute clanger of a statement and then pretend like it never happened.

Astonishing that you both want to have a dig at me when we've just won. Havent you got better things to post about. Must lead sad lives when after a win you'd prefer to abuse other posters rather than praise the team.

Oh Golfie, nobody is biting on that one, you put up your usual 'we don't score enough goals' post and see who takes the bait, you love it, it's your Raison D'etre. Can I just point out though, i will see your point that we don't score enough goals and raise you on the fact that if we had kept Alfie May we would have score two goals less, fact !
Stop being silly, how can it be a fact ???

Great win! No criticism from me. 3 points, Team played with rhythm and fluency, not perfect plenty to work on, but a great performance, but might just have left it to late for automatic promotion.
    Nailed on for play offs.

It feels churlish to complain after a 7th consecutive home win and a magnificent 13 points from the last 5 games. However…

Whilst anything other than a win for Charlton would have been a complete travesty, we contrived to somehow give Wigan the chance of a point as a result of complacency and a loss of shape as the game drew to a close. This is not the time for showboating and a lack of professionalism could have cost us had Wigan - as poor a side seen at The Valley this season - managed to convert one of their two injury time corners. I think Nathan (if not quite off his nut) will - quite rightly - be very unhappy with that and I strongly suspect that we won’t be seeing any repeat of it.

The game should have been definitively put to bed in the 46th minute with TC and then Godden failing to convert gilt-edged chances.

On the positive - very positive - side:

    • it’s another three vital points
    • we were excellent in the first half
    • a brace for Matty Godden
    • Coventry avoided a booking and thereby the risk of a two-match ban. He was excellent today
    • with effortless superiority, we controlled practically the entire game and should have been out of sight by the time Wigan grabbed their late consolation.

It was good to see a bigger than usual crowd at the game and the upward momentum will hopefully encourage more of our latent support to attend as we head to crunch time.

I hope others see what a player Berry is. He has a football brain just watch his positioning and passing. Let’s hope our young players especially Campbell and Small can get some of his football brain.
Completely agree with you. He seems to get a lot of stick but if you watch him his positional play is exceptional. Knows where the goal is too.

I think he’s been great this year. He doesn’t stand out all the time but is involved in a lot of the good things we do

Horrible last few minutes I was convinced they were gonna nick one

All I care about is the 3 points, shame the other game didn’t finish 0-0 but I still believe (but obviously would need to beat both Wrexham and Wycombe away)

It’s now in the season that you start looking at silly points dropped here and there but our rather fortunate last minute point against Wrexham could still be quite important at the end of the season

Hoping Edwards will be fit for Saturday and also gives Lloyd Jones a short rest as he has an injury which he is playing through.
Full squad next week hopefully except for AMB

    Brilliant!

Stop digging golfie out. The problem here is that nobody really knows him.

Of course golfie isn’t the life and soul of the party. He was even doing his best to bring me down after the play-off win. But it’s all for a reason.  Many things in life can be a mystery but what’s for sure is that he loves Charlton.

Been hinted (and by some in stronger terms) at a few times on this thread, we do have a nasty habit of getting in front and then relaxing into cruise mode from which it always looks difficult to get back into top gear.
We can't afford to that any more. The team needs to be a lot more ruthless and to keep on the gas until the final whistle.
Having said that, we are of course on a great run. I reckon our play off spot is assured unless there is a major collapse. Wycombe and Wrexham are getting a wee bit inconsistent, SOOOO a 2nd place finish is not impossible, not likely, yet not impossible
  • It was a good performance today from a team that has seemed leggy for the last couple weeks.

The scoreline flattered, 3 or 4 - 0 wouldn't have looked out of place given the chances. Onwards and upwards.

I suppose if someone had to win Wrexham were the best option, but i'm convinced it would have remained 0-0 but for the enforced stoppage...

Hopefully Wycombe will lose on Tuesday and as they are not playing Saturday, we can go 3rd if we win
