Me buying a ticket for one of my cousins for instance who have been avoiding long away days this season is taking the mick a bit.
I of course will though if they want one as they're family and have no chance otherwise.
I would like them to look into that as at a fair few aways I've seen people who don't appear to be Charlton fans based on their interactions, and I'm a proper noise snob and want every Charlton fan making a bit of racket.
When he buys the tickets why doesn't he assign a ticket to you, then you would have exactly the same points as him.
If he normally buys the tickets by telephone or in person at the ticket office he just provides your id number, or if he purchases online follow the instructions on the links below.Linking Accounts

Away tickets purchases should i m o attract more points than home tickets. For someone living in (say) Eltham, it takes more effort and money to travel to (say) Exeter than it does to hop on a bus to visit the Valley.
Regular Valley attendees who rarely go to away games can get priority over regular away goers who rarely attend the Valley cos they have moved a long way away from SE76 -

Someone with say 600 points can buy 2 tickets and take Someone with him who has no points.
Someone like me with 550 points then misses out.
Don't seem right.0 -

Loyalty means supporting the club home & away, if nobody turned up at 'The Valley' there would be no club to support away.9 -

It's a bit extra but at least that solves that issue 👍🏻2 -

What it would do is give those (like me) who are unable to regularly attend the Valley a better chance of a 'hot' ticket, and not to lose out to season ticket/gold fans who only go to 'hot' away games and don't go to the smaller/less attractive games, especially early in the season on a cold Tuesday night.6 -

I don't think I've ever met a VG member who isn't a ST holder. Do they exist?0

That describes me, very often busy on Sats, I have managed about 15 games this season, split roughly equally home and away, also fairly regular u21 attender which is always a good watch usually with only a couple of hundred in attendance.1

The current system works fine. The most loyal supporters get their tickets first, as it should be.7 -
Let's be honest it's only ever really an issue for 2-3 games a season where the game is fairly local and the allocation is tiny, and even then it's only an issue if we're doing well. It wasn't an issue last year when we were shit and it won't be an issue when we go to Mansfield in a couple of weeks.
Imagine if you supported Man U or Liverpool and you've got 60k ST holders trying to get 2k away tickets.6 -

As for 'loyalty', I have tried to explain that i m o 'loyalty' wears two hats, loyal homers and loyal 'awayers'. I'm advocating that 'loyal awayers' should get more qualifying 'points' when it comes to buying away tickets, especially 'hot' games. IF we were mid table' the points position would not matter so much. Success breeds demand for tickets.
Any and everyone buying a ticket for an away game, be it at Leyton or Exeter should get more points than for paying for a home game, between 120 and 150 points ( a KC would be needed to set the proper differential lol) as opposed to 100. That is my opinion and I have no more to add.

They make their income from home sales.
It is common sense that a business/football club would give priority to it's most valued customers who contribute the most financially.

It is common sense that a business/football club would give priority to it's most valued customers who contribute the most financially.I haven’t commented on this before or dont recall doing so in past seasons but It does annoy me that that issue raises it head virtually every season whether an attractive cup game or a Derby/important league game. Always bringing out the same outcry from fans who don’t get tickets. These are the also the fans that have been going for years but some how don’t have the required loyalty points at the time they are needed.
The club have made it clear how tickets will be prioritised it has been the same for a few years and every Charlton fan who goes regularly should understand what the rules are and ensure their points are recorded correctly. Yes there will be exceptions where they get it wrong. However if you have bought under your con number there should be a record of it. I know there is on my profile and I also keep a personal list. I have contacted the club on a few occasions with point issues and they have always been great in resolving.
There have been a few ticket debacles down tbe years Man Utd in the FA Cup probably the stand out one. I few the way the club currently does it is the fairest if you attend the games.
i know not everyone can get a season ticket for various reasons such as work or distance of travel but the club need give priority to those fans that attend the most games whether home or away or both.
You can’t please every but as the majority of fans on here agree it rewards the fans that go to the most Charlton games as i believe it should.Valley Gold gets brought up regularly but if you don’t have a season ticket and know it gives you an advantage why not get it, rather then moaning about it as and only when it has an negative impact on you. It’s £10 a month and if you aren’t attending every home game it works out less than a season ticket.Valley Gold was not originally a benefit for away tickets it has morphed into that over the years. Whether I agree or it not this is what has been decided I am sure there are a few who only have for the away ticket advantage but many who have to just support the club. For the record I have held valley gold since its inception. The fact you can buy two tickets always get brought up. Yes I do buy two but normally only when the window allows me to designate the ticket to the person I am going with so their loyalty points increase. Only a couple of times have I bought ahead of their window and that was for really low allocation games like AFC. I would never get a priority ticket for a non Charlton fan.
Yes I say this from a privileged position as I have well over 700 loyalty points from season tickets and 25 plus away games over the past two seasons. But I can say hand on heart I have spent thousands following this club for over 45 years up and the down the country, on trains, hotels and beers. I have always gotten a ticket for every game I have wanted to attend as I have been in the priority group or queued from 7am to do so ( (Man Utd)
as I get older and probably have less energy to go away as much other people will go ahead of me for priority which will be right as they will be attending more.I am sure this post will annoy a few people but you know what I don’t care, when I am at Cambridge, Wycombe and Wrexham I am sure I will see the same faces I see at the other away games which makes me think the current scheme works.18 -

I do think Valley Gold by itself sits too high in the priority list. I've a couple of pals who don't go anymore who are in Valley Gold and who could swoop for Cambridge tickets if they wished to do so. Seems unfair to me.4 -

The club probably have a view of how many they think that would be and therefore continue to allow it.0 -

I have always gotten a ticket for every game I have wanted to attend as I have been in the priority group or queued from 7am to do so ( (Man Utd)
as I get older and probably have less energy to go away as much other people will go ahead of me for priority which will be right as they will be attending more.I am sure this post will annoy a few people but you know what I don’t care, when I am at Cambridge, Wycombe and Wrexham I am sure I will see the same faces I see at the other away games which makes me think the current scheme works.
I do think Valley Gold by itself sits too high in the priority list. I've a couple of pals who don't go anymore who are in Valley Gold and who could swoop for Cambridge tickets if they wished to do so. Seems unfair to me.
I'll have a 2 season count up later. BUT, even with my buying away tickets and a few Valley games over the last 2 seasons, I would still be way down the pecking order. The tickets bought on my behalf would boost my points a bit (But, if I don't buy = zero points and allocation is new to me)
Buying Valley Gold would be no help as it seems you still need a mass of points for VG purchases to take effect0 -

Regular Valley attendees who rarely go to away games can get priority over regular away goers who rarely attend the Valley cos they have moved a long way away from SE7
Loyalty means supporting the club home & away, if nobody turned up at 'The Valley' there would be no club to support away.
What it would do is give those (like me) who are unable to regularly attend the Valley a better chance of a 'hot' ticket, and not to lose out to season ticket/gold fans who only go to 'hot' away games and don't go to the smaller/less attractive games, especially early in the season on a cold Tuesday night.
The current system works fine. The most loyal supporters get their tickets first, as it should be.
That is my opinion and I have no more to add.Just a thought 🤔🤷🏻♂️😉0 -

Where were all of the 1000+ Charlton fans attending this one at Bolton and Burton away this season?
By my calculations, I should have 575 points:
Every home game from Cheltenham Town last season
Season ticket this season
Four away games last season
7 cup games this season (minus one as I was sat with the Southend fans)
17 away league games this season (minus one as I was sat with the Orient fans)
That should have made me eligible for phase 6 and would have allowed me to just about get a ticket. However, I had to wait for phase 9 and these tickets didn't even reach phase 7.Also by the sounds of what you have posted you have only started to the hard graft since Cheltenham last year. Some of us having been doing it non stop our whole lives
I feel your pain0 -
Not read all this at all but the away fans are very important to our club and should be looked after.
Grimsby on a Tuesday night in Jan and all that …
if we don’t do well away we won’t sell as many tickets at home whether season or match day! What has struck me is the club makes no effort to push away tickets to support the boys..
This week is a prime example as we got more Boro tickets but I only found out on here and there was a glitch on the system for hours on Sunday.
Many of us also were just seeing the disabled tickets as well …
I know we joke Operation this and that but tomorrow we really could have taken more like Sunderland used to take almost the whole away grounds up north - Morcambe - Stanley - Blackpool and the like in league one
just a thought !3 -
