Scunthorpe in trouble

  • Scunthorpe was in trouble as soon as Wilkinson (value stores) went bust.
Peter Swann, the one time Scunny owner who took over the club just after their short time in the Championship (under Nigel Adkins) is married to Karin Swann (nee Wilkinson). It's likely that after the Wilkinson failure, the dividends stopped and subsequently the money to support Scunthorpe United dried up like a rain shower in the Sahara. Swann's ill fated financial decisions did a lot i m o to destabilise the club

  • Never mind Scunthorpe United F C .. it seems that Chinese owned 'British Steel' will shortly close the Scunthorpe steel works, first established over 150 years ago.
If/when this happens, it will be the end for Scunthorpe as a viable town.
The UK Govt has prevaricated for years over financial support for the works. Given the recent belt tightening announcements by Rachel Reeves, it seems the choice now will be a Govt subsidy or many more thousands claiming Universal Credit in North Lincolnshire.
Perhaps Ed Miliband's 'Green Revolution' will provide the jobs to keep Scunny on the map, don't hold your breath over that one
  • Scunny is certainly not a good place to live these days…constantly stumbling from one crisis to another, to say nothing about the football team.

Posted on Twitter a few days ago. Allegedly a fan messaging the owner. Now he's announced he's publicly that he's pulling funding.
    That really is shocking.

    “To” instead of too.
    “Whos” instead of who’s.
You missed the biggest and most ironic… “there to stupid” 🤦🏼‍♂️
    Call yourself a Millwall fan?
