Wow wasn't expecting that, class response from last weekend. Defence looked very solid, Ramsey is just different level. Massive well don to TC, never been a huge fan but he was brilliant today, they all were.
I thought Huddersfield’s no. 27 was their most lively player. Unfortunately for them he got less than 20 minutes on the pitch.
Agreed. T Blessing Chiewra. He injected some life into their midfield for the last 20 minutes. Would be nice to think that he is the sort of player on Charlton's radar but unfortunately for us he is on loan from Wolves so likely too expensive for our pockets.
I can’t remember the last time I saw a Charlton team control a game like that. TC was the obvious standout, but there was nobody out there taking a day off.
I hope they can keep it going until next Saturday - first chance I’ve had to get to a game in years.
Great day. I think 4-0 doesn't do our performance justice. Not sure how that wasn't a penalty on Dixon and admittedly I was in the North Stand but was Chuks offside? We made them look like a pub team and they were second best to everything. We nice to see legends Claus and Herman after the game and they both said they enjoyed the game and were very impressed with us.
If we finish 3rd and Reading 6th but are not sold so get kicked out of the league, do we get a bye into the final?
Think back to a previous relegation, (was it Wendies?) were naughty boys but didnt get their penalties until the following year rather than the year they cheated to send us down.
Got to agree with se9addick. In a display of so many good individual performances today I thought Coventry was immense. Well done to the boys for bouncing back to probably the best display of the season. Brilliant to have the feel good factor back after so many seasons of dross at the Valley. My season ticket will definitely be renewed regardless of which division we are in next season. I trust Jones 100% & I can only see us getting stronger in the long run. Mind you after supporting Charlton since My Dad took me in 1966 there was never any doubt that I wasn’t renewing ! Charlton ‘til I die ! Lastly , great to see the Charlton old boys introduced on the pitch today. I reckon they must have thought the old Charlton fighting spirit lives on !
Not had the best of luck against Hudds That said -I was at Leeds Rd (their old ground) in 74:75 season a Very lively day .Won 3-1 I think Killer got 2 - we went onto promotion that season…
Anyway I digress. Was at Gills cup defeat last season TC got so much abuse that day( he really needed an arm round him to build his confidence) IMO he is our Most improved player and next to Ramsey our most sellable asset
i hope it don’t come to that on days like today he is simply umplayable COYR
On the train back up t’north after a great few days in London. A Valley tour on Friday and a trip to the museum, and then in a West Stand box today with family, including my 18 month old grandson attending his first game.
Wow - probably the most commanding performance I’ve seen from us in many a long year. Total domination. TC rightly MoM in the lounges but every single player gave their all for the cause.
We won’t make outright but I fear absolutely nobody in the play offs. Up the Football League we go!

I remember that well, it was uncomfortable to be around as it was clear that his confidence was shot, rather than him not caring.
We've had halves of football that felt relatively comfortable this season, but this was completely from the start, end-to-end and literally on top from minute one. They offered very, very little, but due to our dominance.
I certainly can't remember another game in any relative recent memory where control was almost absolute.
TC’s second goal up there with one of my all time CAFC favourites.
Partly enthused by the HT beer I was roaring with delight at the way Coventry (what a player) mopped up possession and deftly recycled in midfield, yet again. Fast forward and we were directly behind as TC’s shot curled in; so perfect I was celebrating as it crossed the 6 yard line.
Loved Godden’s goal too, and think Edwards such a key player - never has a bad game, impacts all over the pitch, wins headers and tackles, allows others to play..
On the train from London Bridge to The Valley, there were 4 guys sitting in the seats in front of me, speaking a foreign language, that sounded Scandinavian. Another Charlton fan engaged in conversation with them, and I was earwigging, and it turned out that they were Swedish, they had heard of the returning Scandi Noir quintet returning to The Valley, and that they decided to come to the game. It's interesting that small things like that draw in other football fans, and, respect to the club, and also probably Brownie and Lisbie were involved, in organising these legends back to the club. These Swedish fans had never been to The Valley before, and after that incredible performance, I hope they bring some of their mates with them!! Before the game I was apprehensive of this fixture, after the setback against the Posh, but what a turn around, best game of the season! I guess my point is, we can be snooty about football tourists, but initiatives like this, bringing back former players, for me, players who I watched perform, but also educating younger supporters of our footballing heritage can only be a good thing for the wellbeing of the club.
Fantastic performance from everyone today. Feels wrong in a way to single out anyone because they all played so well, but I will. CC was absolutely superb. And TC played a blinder. COYR.
Can't think of a more complete performance than that for a very long time. Excellent in all respects, would love to have seen training this week. Look after ourselves now then check what others have done afterwards.
Charlton got off to a great start, everyone looking completely comfortable in their roles and carrying them out at pace - and that was just the PSA Testing. Then some real signs of great technical flair in the warm up as Thierry Small nutmegged a mascot from quite some distance. As for the match, there really was only one team in it. Right across the pitch, every single Charlton player was better than every single Huddersfield player. In possession the passing and movement was highly impressive, whilst out of possession... well, we weren't ever out of possession for very long because we were just so quick and snappy, we won every loose ball and never let them settle for a moment. I was very pleased to see Edwards back in the team; nothing against Watson whose cameo was absolutely fine, but Edwards is a real tower of strength. Man of the match was surely TC though, it's great to see that he's adding scoring to his rapidly increasing list of attributes, he was quite simply superb today. All the subs played a part too, after last week I wasn't sure I'd see Chucks beat his man in a straight chase and then place a pass rather than shooting, but we had that as well. The Dixon kid looks very useful, if a little slight. Still, get him on The Hulk bulk up programme that TC went on this summer and he'll be walking through walls.
I don't suppose for a moment that they'll read this, but to the very nice Juventus fans that sat next to me today, I hope you really do come back, but I can't promise it's always that good though. Thanks to whoever it was who posted The Terriers fan forum on the match thread at half time. That gave me a lot of amusement this evening - before I started feeling sorry for them. I might copy some quotes from there later.
I visited The Museum after the match. First time I've been for several years (thanks, early kick off). It's really impressive, if anyone's not been I'd highly recommend it. Best though, is that there was quite a crowd in there - maybe that's a good sign of the interest in Charlton at the moment.
The only downer on my day was stopping off for a walk at Thamesmead on the way home. No offence to anyone that lives there, but I didn't have the best of experiences. The walk around Gallions Reach Park and along The Thames Path was grand, but I got stuck going round in circles between Newmarsh Road and Grasshaven Way only to get ripped off by a little boy selling bananas at exorbitant prices from is front garden - happy retirement kid! After finding my way with a pleasant stroll past Bellmarsh, I thought I'd slake my thirst in the Princess Alice, only to find that it's shut down. What?!?!?
