Not gonna lie, I had this down as back to back defeats and nervous look over our shoulders.

Lays down a marker against someone we might face in the playoffs
    Hopefully less likely.

We had the song for Seb on five minutes.
    Thanks @Stig.
TBH I was impressed when I heard it, because in all the action I'd forgotten myself (shame on me).
  • These are the days when you can read a post match thread without any sense of fear.
  • So many good performances today but TC was literally immense. The work ethic in this team is ridiculous. There was a piece of early play at 1-0 where the ball went out to their right back and TC gave it full beans to press and force him into playing. He took the rushed option and slid it down the wing and Edwards similarly attacked it at pace and it ended up going out for a nothing throw. So much effort forcing oppositions into making rushed decisions and unforced errors.

Only he knows the truth, but TC gave the demeanour last season of a player with rock bottom confidence putting in minimum effort. The turnaround in his displayed effort is insane, and the hard work is getting just rewards like we saw today.

    Well done TC 👏👏
You and I have exchanged posts on the subject of TC before, but the article that Scoham shared and the way TC knuckled down this summer and turned himself into the physical specimen he is now, I think, dispels the idea that his form last season was due to a bad attitude or lack of commitment or desire. He was a breath of fresh air when Holden gave him  his break but it fell apart under Appleton. For some players a lack of confident can destroy them - it’s human nature that they might retreat within themselves and that can be interpreted as hiding but it’s not deliberate an, like all psychological things, it’s not necessarily something someone can switch off at will. Especially so for someone who was still a teenager last season.

He started to pick up almost as soon as NJ got here and he’s just been getting better and better. Seems to me, he needs a manager who believes in him. He had that in Holden and he definitely has it in Jones, who clearly loves him. Appleton carries a lot of responsibility, imo, for where it all went wrong for TC last season.

I’m so happy he’s found his way back because he’s developing into a very good player. When you see him play like he did today, you’d have to say that one day playing in the Premier League is not a totally unrealistic ambition for him.
Last year he was a boy, now he is a man and it shows.

Town fans can waffle all they want about how their team never turned up, but truth be told you were put to the fu*kin’ sword by the better team, end of, just accept that and you’ll feel better 😂😂
We just sent you back home up the M1 with your tails between your legs, get over it you numpties…
    COYR👍

  • Anyone seen video of the late challenge on Dixon? From my seat in the AC it looked like the defender took the ball as well as the man, but would probably have gone to VAR in the Prem. Should he have got a penalty?
  • Best performance of the season for me.  I was very nervous going into the game after the manner of the defeat last week.  Our run has been built on the base of a solid defence and winning professionally, without looking like we can pull teams apart.  The defensive aspect of our game was still there, but we really came out the blocks and looked great going forward today.

I just wanted to win today, even if we had nicked it and played badly, but hopefully this will give us the confidence to take the run in by the scruff of the neck

I’ve never had an opinion on Campbell (good/bad), but if he can repeat what he did today for two thirds of a season, he has the potential to play higher.  Edwards back was key today as it gave Small the opportunity to do what he does best.

in all my years of watching football, one thing I’ve always felt was key to a decent team, is having that element of threat and attack from full backs/in our case wing backs, but they’re primarily good defenders as well.  Small, Edwards and Ramsay when he plays wide all so that, and it’s a headache for any team to deal with

we were fortunate with the opening goal in the manner and timing of it, and it was the perfect way to get last week out the system, but from
then on in, we took control

My concerns are if anything happens to Godden due to Leaburn’s injury.  I think we can ride out the next 7 with Godden/TC, but we do need Leaburn back for the playoffs to give us that option.  I’m not Aneke’s biggest fan and can’t wait for this sorry 3 and a half years to end, but I just have a feeling he’s going to get the winning goal for us at Wembley

Excellent sum up. What a football story that would be - Chuks Aneke with a winning goal at Wembley to remind us of the great moments he has given in football over the seasons.

Total agree on striker fitness. Charlton's first line team is a match for any in the division.

I'll say something I couldn't have said earlier in the season. I think overall. this team/squad is better than our 2019 one. Whether that equates to promotion is a different matter but we have to have a great chance.
  • It says something when the opposition concede 4 and still their keeper is by far their best player.

I can't remember such a complete 90 minute performance and feeling such joy since we left the Prem.

There is a real feel good factor right now that is not just about results but also how we achieve them and specifically this one. May it last another 2 months at least.
  • Turning out to be such a shame we had that dip in form before Christmas.  We would be giving money bags Birmingham a good chase and Hollywood Wrexham would have a box office flop on their hands.

If we retain this form and with no injuries, we should fear no one in a play off!

  • We definitely have to go up - will lose a number of players if we don't...
    Sadly spot on I fear.

I remember Curbs saying that if we hadn't gone up in 1998, that team would have been broken up and no doubt the likes of Rufus, Kinsella and Mendonca would have been sold.

If we don't go up this season, it is sadly too easy to see Small move on (actually even if we go up, I have a feeling he may well look for a better pay day) with the likes of Campbell (who after his performance today must surely have some Championship clubs - at least - looking at him) and Ramsay.

Sadly even if we do go up,players may leave.Look at the last time we got promoted,Bauer,Aribo,Dijkstel,Belic all went ,Agents will put the players about and Money will talk.(I know Belic was on loan, but he was very young and possibly we could have kept him)

It’s all about timing. Like a runner kicking down on the final bend, get the timing right and you blow the others away. Kick down too early and you give them a chance to recover before you reach the tape - in this case our rivals would have simply splashed more cash in January and we might have lost one or two players to far richer teams attracted by how well they were playing. We weren’t ready as a team in the first few months, in fact we didn’t even know who the team was but in adversity the team often finds itself. ‘What if’ speculations are irrelevant other than when planning next seasons campaign because they look back at a time when we should only be looking ahead and planning for the next game.

    GK - 18/19 better
    Defence - 24/25 much better
    Midfield - 18/19 better
    Forwards - 24/25 much better
  • The morning after the day before ! What an all round performance. Playoffs nailed on now I think but automatic a tad too far however this is a weird league. Crawley smash Rotherham ! The Rotherham team that smashed us ! I can see Blackpool beating Wrexham if we can beat them as well then game on
  • Funny old game, what a difference a week can make.
From the moment I got there and gave Sam Bartrum his customary slap on the calf the result was never really in doubt....... well, don't we all have a pre-match ritual?........ although NJ, the coaching team, fitness/medical team, all the other staff and mostly of course the whole blooming squad might have also has something to do with it........
    Thanks to you all! Outstanding!

After today I dont see Huddersfield as top 6 material. Think 6th will be betwen Reading, Bolton & Orient.........but Blackpool are making a late charge for it too !
You could be right but they battered Crawley last weekend and we conceded three without reply to a mid table team. It’s how they respond to yesterday much like how we responded to the Peterborough defeat. I doubt Hudds will be far off but I agree there are teams gaining momentum.
