I can only say what I see and Karoy Zidane Lovebourne Anderson has been training with CAFC since he was 9 years old so would've been kicking a football most days after school and during school holidays with professional coaching.
Karoy who is a religious lad which has helped him to be dedicated and grounded while most of his peer group has dropped out of the hard job of being a full time pro.
I see a fantastic athlete with an excellent engine which is why his has over 50 apps for CAFC at 20 years old.
What I can't witness at the moment is technical ability on the ball despite his ability to negate and close down the ball with stamina in abundance.
I had the fortune over a couple of seasons to see many talented young Midfielders at an independent Football academy and many of them had more skill when in possession of the ball BUT most didn't/couldn't do the hard yards demanded by the coaches when out of possession.
I would hope Karoy Anderson, similar to his quiet college TC stays behind some afternoon in practicing his ball skills because if his touch can improve he can be a fine midfielder but I personally haven't seen that skill come to fruition YET.
At the moment he reminds me of George Lapslie, once of this Parish and at 27 is now at Bradford with a fresh 2 1/2 year contract after moving from Gillingham.
Doing well in league 2 and another player who by being dedicated and who has added the odd goal to his great stamina and ability to cover every blade of grass which makes up for any short comings on the ball.
So many of the ballers I saw who are now playing semi pro at 20ish would love to swop places with Karoy or George.
In many ways he's the opposite of TC. One had plenty of skill but was physically not quite ready, the other one has the energy but not quite the technique. I suspect its easier to make a skilful player stronger than to make a physical one more skilful but Jones obviously sees something he likes.

Good shout on Pritchard.
Unlike Karoy and George Lapslie he came late to pro Football, very late in fact. Bradley was only a pro footballer from 25 to 31 before he went back to being a semi pro and an analyst and is now a player coach for Phoenix sport.
At 39 he still loves to play as he is still as fit as a butchers dog even if he doesn't quite get around the field as fast !1 -

I remember having a chat to Hamza Serrar after an U18s FAYC game down at Worthing which had James Beadell, Zach Mitchell,Josh Laq,TC,Daniel Kanu and Miles Leaburn in the side. Karoy was injured but he said Karoy had the most upside of that side for him.1

Agree, I only watched a few matches of Anderson for the youth team or U21.
I'm judging Karoy on what I'm seeing in the 1st team. I'm not writing him off and not talking in the vernacular of some CL posters and calling him "Shite" or whoever they have called 'shite" over the decade plus of being on CL.
Of course it's harder in Professional mens football than youth football. That why so few make the transition from boy's to men's football.
With 53 apps under his belt and a manager that likes him, he is making progress, it's just that I haven't seen the radar scanning of a midfielder with a good touch or that will hold down a regular 1st team place YET at CAFC.
The fact that Karoy came on when 4-0 and not Gilbert did surprise me but it's Nathan's gig and he will do things his way. He wanted to keep a clean sheet and Anderson is better at Closing down than Gilbert who appears to be better with the ball at his feet.

A great guy to have around, who will always give 100%, but I always thought Albie Morgan would have the better career, as he was technically better.0 -
I only saw him play youth football on a stream but he instantly stood out for me - he always found time on the ball and his passing / technique looked excellent. I agree with @MuttleyCAFC and hope it is only a matter of time before this clicks fully for him in men’s football.2
